"Tatami" Part 2 of 2. A new storyline that acts as a great jumping on point starts here! Usagi helps guard a shipment of tatami mats for an important tea ceremony when they are attacked by the Neko Ninja Clan who are hired to prevent the mats from arriving to their destination. He, along with the outcast ninja, Chizu, face almost impossible odds to complete their mission, but not all plans go as expected.
The conclusion of this story is every bit as satisfying as it's beginning, delivering another ageless bit of excellence in a canon already filled with similar examples. Read Full Review
The action is fast and furious in Usagi Yojimbo #9 with Usagi fighting with the soldiers on the ground and Chizu battling Kagemaru and Kimi and on the cliffs above. Stan Sakai also offers a nice moment between Usagi and his friend and a glimpse into the hidden long-term plans of Chizu to wrest control of the Neko Ninja back from Kagemaru. Worth a look. Nice plot and character development, exciting action and a tragic conclusion. Stan Sakai hasn't lost a step.
