Where are we now?
The last few pages are a synergistic master class, where Kot's writing and Zezelj's art arrive at the same point and deliver a harsh but spot on reflection of what it feels like to exist in the world knowing things like science and history. Or just having common sense. When this is released as a trade paperback, this issue will stand out. When the MAGA folks start burning comics, this will stand out near the top of the pile. Even if you look back on current events in ten, twenty years' time, and feel that surge of warmth that you stood for something bigger than yourself, Days of Hate, at the end, asks us something else " what did you do afterward, to sustain the flame, and stop the darkness from coming back? Because what is happening today isn't a bizarre one-off " it may very well be the beginning of something far, far worse. Days of Hate #12 isn't a capstone, but a waypoint on a longer journey.
