Aug 19, 2026Meeting The Deadtones was definitely a highlight of this issue, however, what I truly loved seeing was how much Hornsby & Halo have grown. They’ve come to terms with what they are, but they haven’t accepted it. They both want to stay who they are, and they seem to be completely on the same page. They’re not alone in this crazy social experiment for the ages. They got each other. That’s a far spot from where they started, and now they’re ready to meet some more Unbelievables. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Aug 19, 2026It's inevitable thatRose and Zach are going to run into other supernatural characters. It would be very difficult to do a series like this without having the supernatural as a fundamental component of it. However, the ideal situation would be to have the rest of the universe seen through the eyes of the main characters. That it would flow organically from them and their encounters with the rest of the world. Simply throwing another group of characters into the middle of a book feels just a little jarring. Plot
Zach and Rose return to their hometown and discover that the population is aggressive towards each other, with high levels of intolerance that include physical aggression. Something is affecting everyone and whispers ideas about judging and eliminating everyone to Zach and Rose in their dreams; this infection comes from the mysterious lagoon near the town.
Zach and Rose realize this and prepare themselves because they are going in search of the next UNBELIEVABLES, a rock band called DEADTONES.
“The Deadtones are comprised of various mythical and pop culture monsters, who are attacked by smugglers cooking meth. This team is ruthless and incredibly powerful.

The best parts of this issue are the moments spent with Zachary and Rose. Also, Pepper and Tucker. But there just weren’t enough of them!! They feel like side characters in their own book.
I don’t care about these new characters. Not in the slightest. I wasn’t crazy about The Unbelievables arc and I’m totally over it. I don’t want any more of it. I know they are trying to build a comic book universe, but I just don’t care.
Just give me Hornsby and Halo (like the title says) or I’ll eventually just cut my losses and move on.
