    Nerd Initiative - Michael Rothman

Skinbreaker #4 might be the best issue yet in my humble opinion. It's such a thought-provoking issue and the story stays with you well after you're done reading it. Read Full Review

This issue demonstrates how the dynamic combination of a writer and an artist at the top of their respective games can pay off for readers. It’s a compelling and visually stunning story that will leave its audience wanting more. What more could you ask for in a comic book? Read Full Review

    Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez

    Dec 24, 2025

SKINBREAKER #4 is a visually stunning, narratively direct execution of a foregone conclusion, and it never apologizes for that. The duel is rendered with exceptional clarity and kinetic energy, and the commitment to not letting Paca win cleanly rather than pulling a surprise reversal gives the issue real weight and consequence. However, the story itself does not significantly advance the series beyond confirming what issue #3 promised, and the ideological clash at the heart of the conflict is stated rather than truly explored. I so agree with the slow ride, but I can read this any day, every day... As a reader you're so drawn into this universe, I truly hope we can enjoy this ride for years to come.

Slow ride with a disappointing cowardly act by the main character.

After my initial excitement for Skinbreaker, I am quite disappointed at this point. The art, as perfect as it is, is always the same, and so is the story. Although the four issues span years, all we get is the same story (with small variations) over and over again - duel after duel, without ever focusing on anything other than the quick succession of chiefs. We could have had the beginning of a quest by now - different landscapes, some real progression, not for the tribe, but for the reader. I have no idea where this is going, but I'm starting to lose my interest.
