Sep 02, 2026Tales of Wonder #1 is a strong debut that mixes superhero nostalgia, industry satire, and personal conflict into an engaging first issue. Steve Skroce builds a familiar but intriguing world, then ends with a reveal that makes the story feel much bigger than expected. With sharp writing, detailed art, vibrant colors, and clean lettering, this issue delivers an awesome start that leaves plenty of reason to come back for more. Comic Crusaders - Al Mega
Sep 01, 2026By the final stretch, Skroce has earned the superhero insanity because the spectacle is attached to a relationship instead of replacing one. Tales of Wonder #1 has a few rough edges, mainly the heavy dialogue and a setup that takes its sweet time before smashing the gas, but the payoff is worth the wait. Skroce’s art is ferocious, Herring gives the chaos shape and temperature, Brosseau keeps the page flowing, and the writing finds real sadness hiding underneath some savage comic-industry comedy. WEPAAAA, this joint showed up wearing old-school comics history on its sleeve and then pulled a loaded ray gun from under the signing table. Funny, mean, affectionate, visually bananas, and built around two dudes who desperately need therapy before they save anybody. Read Full Review

Awesome art by Steve Skroce in a story about the pits and falls of collecting comic books as an obsession. Kind of makes you think about what it is you do by collecting boxes and boxes of these books! But at the same time, it made me think about how I collect comics because I love them, the stories, the art and the fandom. It tells the tale of two Kirby/Stan Lee type creators who are in their old age and basically hate each other...but they don't expect their creations to become real. It reminded me of the concept behind the film Galaxy Quest. Will for sure get issue two, loved how its making fun of comic conventions and the whole marketing money making side of comics.
