AJ has a plan, but the way things are going, he won't live long enough to pull it off. Russian assassins are closing in, and what they have planned for AJ is far worse than anything Zebra and Monkey will do once they no longer need a wheelman.
The Hard Place is a decent little crime story. It's intense and action-packed and with this issue it has managed to subvert all the clichs that tend to come with the "wheelman" sub-genre of crime fiction. It has great pacing and an overall cinematic feel to it. This isn't a book that demands much of your time, in that it doesn't ask much of its readers. Which isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes you just need to blow off a little steam and follow along with a car full of criminals as they run for their lives from cops and other bad guys and all the bullets aimed in their direction. I feel like The Hard Place #3 takes the story back a step with the progression of the characters. In fact, there isn't any progression -- just some head scratching. I'm not jumping out of the car though. I'm buckled in for the long ride; I just hope that it all pays off at the end of this journey. Read Full Review
