A dark entity made of fire, smoke, and ash-"The Fire Man"-blazes through a young girl's home, killing her entire family. Amy Durant swears she saw this supernatural creature, but no one ever believed her. Unfortunately, these past fears reignite a decade later as her city goes up in flames. The writing is similarly impressive. Anthony Cleveland has once again proven he can handle the pen behind the comic pages. The script does a great job of setting up the story for the rest of the series. The story doesn't feel rushed or forced. Instead, it has the perfect pace to keep you entertained and intrigued. The theme of trauma that Amy faces after losing her family in a fire brings depth to the story. The suspense behind “The Fire Man,” the villain of our story, makes it all the more gripping. The writing is definitely one of the highlights of this comic. Read Full Review
I’m going to start with the fact my anticipation for this comic being wonderful was extremely high. Having now read issue number 1 all I can say is this comic was everything that I had hoped for and a whole lot more. Lovely script , tight dialogue and some of the best art I’ve seen in months all brought together with an extremely credible story. I won’t give away spoilers but if you only actually bought it for the art you would be doing yourself an injustice.
Fantastic art, gripping story. Not sure where the story is going to go as it doesn't seem to tackle all of the horrors of firefighting and is going for something a little more supernatural but its very engaging. Real world traumas and fears with a layer of the fantastical. Works very well.
