Jacob Wyatt pencils and inks this middle installment of the crossover. Unfortunately, his style lacks some of the dynamic quality of Kris Anka's work in the first issue. And that becomes a problem during the fight scenes between Hulk and the Abomination. The two characters aren't quite as powerful and menacing as they should be. But otherwise Wyatt's work suits the story well. He captures a Silver Age vibe and ensures that all his characters are graced with expressive facial work despite the relatively simple nature of the art. That bobble doesn't keep "Indestructible Hulk Special" #1 from being yet another fun comic book from Marvel. This story is the type of thing Annuals would have presented in the 1980s and the combination of X-Men, Spider-Man and Hulk is something that truly celebrates so much of the Marvel Universe. With an explosive conclusion in this issue, Mike Costa and crew leave readers hanging for the finale to "Arms of the Octopus." Personally, I'm just looking forward to another enjoyable story. And the biggest reason this gets a 7.0 from me is that there are blatant spelling mistakes. Did anyone actually edit this comic? It isn't Superiior Spider-man, its Superior Spider-Man. Otto Octavius not Otto Octavious. I have standards for comics. You have editors. Use them. Read Full Review

I'm not certain that there is $4.99 worth of entertainment here, though, especially given that the issue's retro tale seems unlikely to become high-profile fodder or to have lasting ramifications for the characters. While it's fun to see Bruce Banner in full-on science nerd mode (as well as Otto Octavius utterly enraged by his own old, gross self), the same elements that make the book fun also make it feel inessential and somehow lightweight. Indestructible Hulk Special #1 isn't a perfect affair, but it's a pretty decent book, really suffering only in terms of packaging and price-point, earning a better-than-average 3 out of 5 stars overall. It's good to see the characters actually interacting with each other, though, as the Marvel NOW! titles have felt a little disconnected from one another of late... Read Full Review

INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK #1 is an example of how mixed art can weigh down a solid script. There's some animated panels to be found, but there's plenty of small visual gripes along the way and overall, it takes a toll on the issue's quality. Seeing as this story has been a fairly good dose of fun, I'll definitely stick around for the third (and final) chapter. It's worth picking up if you really enjoyed the first chapter. Read Full Review
