I really should stop worrying about Journey Into Mystery's quality dropping as a result of outside influences. It seems that whatever Marvel throws at it, be it crossovers or artist changes, the title continues to be excellent through and through. Loki continues to be a compelling protagonist who has gone through so much already and yet drags himself through even more for the love of his brother and his commitment to doing good, no matter the consequences, and I will truly be sad when this title changes creative team. For the opening shot in a war, “Everything Burns” is certainly off to a bang. It seems that the odds are against our heros in this one, but in most great stories of a heroes journey they often are. Fraction's “Thor” has reveled in the glory of classic mythos and Gillen's “JiM” work has sung with bold character development towards otherwise seemingly unlikable characters. With the two styles combined, it looks like “Everything Burns” may just be the true major Marvel event of the year. Fingers crossed. Read Full Review

Journey Into Mystery #642 gets Everything Burns going full speed ahead, making a very strong case for the high quality and entertainment value of the crossover. Thor fans, as well as casuals, looking for an emotionally engaging tale of mythic proportions will find little to complain in here. Read Full Review

It doesn't have Alan Davis' art, but otherwise this issue is a more than worthy follow-up to the prologue chapter of Everything Burns. There's now no doubt in my mind that this crossover will live up to the challenge of capping off two memorable Thor comics in one fell swoop. Read Full Review
