Once again, Schultz delivers a dynamic to the page that feels distinctly unlike the other major Wolverine in the Marvel Universe. There is considerable sense of depth and emotional residence that comes with a character who hasnt been around for 1 million years. Shes new. Shes fresh. And shes engaging. Her world continues to expand with each issue. Thankfully, Schultz is very poised and patient with the Expansion of her world. Things move along with a very measured and thoughtful pace. All hell seems to be breaking lose, and Laura is getting frustrated. I love the pivot from the Christmas hallucinations with her innocent little sister, to a badass fighting Gabby that needs her big sister after a vampire hunt goes wrong. Wolverines are caretakers, whether they like to admit it or not, and I'm loving the big sister role we see Laura in here. As this is Part One, I can't wait for the next part. Read Full Review
Fun issue. One small complaint was Laura whining about "Why does Gabby need Xarus around when she has me" too many times. We got it the first couple times. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. Interesting story, cool to have Clea guest star, Xarus is a cool side character here. Hope Gabby gets more involved moving forward.
