THUNDER WAR Rises! HADAD is here to end our universe. ETERNITY, sensing the coming cataclysm, abandons the universe to seek the help of THE ONE ABOVE ALL - the only entity benevolent and powerful enough to defeat HADAD - the first storm god. With ETERNITY gone and the powers of the ETERNAL STORM stripped away, STORM is no longer the most powerful being in the universe. Yet all we hold dear rests on her shoulders. The newest, youngest, mortal storm god (ORORO MUNROE) must face the oldest and most powerful storm god (HADAD)...alone...for the fate of the universe. Our universe is doomed.
Storm #11 is a well-crafted issue in an epic event on a monumental scale which tests Ororo Munroe's humanity against the cosmic might of the immortal storm god Hadad. Murewaya Ayodele's Storm is without a doubt a landmark series that establishes Storm as a character worthy of carrying a solo series of her own, and this saga in particular is a definitive chapter in the storied fifty year history of Ororo Munroe as a character. Ororo has been through a great deal over the years. The power that she now has is something that seems to be exploring a deeper reality in and within her. More so than nearly any other character in the Marvel Universe, shes been on just about every edge of the power spectrum imaginable...from completely powerless to superhero to god. Its an impressive spectrum. And its nice to see her holding the kind of power that she does in the latest issue of her own series. Very cool. Read Full Review
A HOME RUN! Wow!!!!
The most imaginative Storm story in years
Love it !
I appreciate that Ayodele is treading new ground with Storm, concocting a story arc of truly cosmic proportions. However, sometimes (especially with an artist less capable than series regular Lucas Werneck) I'm having trouble figuring out WTF is even happening.
Why is Storm becoming a real god? Why are Maggot and Eden not dead? One was cut in half and the other beheaded! Why is Gateway speaking? Why does Hadad want to destroy everything? Why now? And what the hell are Galactus and Silver Surfer doing in this book?
I'm sorry, I really like the direction of the book, but I can't give this issue a good rating. Both the writing and art are just not clear enough, leaving too much connecting the dots to the reader's imagination.
