I want to begin with art. I am not a happy person with this dual artist situation. I need consistency to keep me focused. I liked the Alpha Team's artist but was not happy with the Beta Team's artist. Everyone looked completely mis-proportioned and indistinct. Another strong and fast paced issue from Jeff Parker and his team of artists. Nothing ever gets stale in Parker's world and if you long for the way comics “used to be” when stories kept chugging along like a high-speed train, you really should be reading this. Read Full Review
"Thunderbolts" continues to be a book that aims to delight. Parker uses a flowing dialogue trick to join disparate scenes together in a way that's always meaningful. He also ensures each issue is packed with a few innovative ideas that are obviously thought out. Now he just needs to capitalize on them. "Fear Itself" looming on the horizon doesn't have my hopes up, but Parker made his "Shadowland" tie-in issues the best thing about that event so you can't write this title off. For Thunderbolts to work right, it needs the writer and artist to come together to perfectly capture the emotion of a scene, and in this issue we have too many times where it seems like the creative talents are on different pages. While I maintain that Thunderbolts is one of the best team books on the shelves today, I hope that the problems found in this issue can get smoothed out soon so that this lofty claim can continue - for the sake of Marvel, the creative staff, and the faithful readers of this series.
