X-Force land themselves somewhere you've never seen them. A new member joins the team! Rising star Julian Totino Tedesco (VENOM: CIRCLE OF FOUR, JOHN CARTER GODS OF MARS covers) joins the best creative team in comics for two issues!
As much as what's happened in this issue pains me, I can't deny that it wasn't a great comic book story. It's very dark and grim, and you feel for these characters; something I think is very important when you're dealing with a character death. The pacing in this issue is just fantastic. Nothing feels like it happens too quickly, and everything feels like it happens for a reason (except maybe Gateway's death, but that remains to be seen). I think this is definitely a powerful issue that has the ability to re-evaluate the motives and purpose behind an X-Force team, and whether something like this is necessary. Dealing with the worst case, future scenario is always interesting, and it definitely worked here. I am so looking forward to the next issue of UNCANNY X-FORCE. Read Full Review
I was OK with Phil Noto's work on the last issue. In this issue we have Totino Tedesco whose gritty style works perfectly with the themes and emotions running in this issue. He also does a great job with some key emotional panels. Read Full Review
"Uncanny X-Force" is Marvel's best title. In fact, it's miles ahead of the competition. This issue reinforces Remender and his stable of artistic geniuses' ability to deliver a perfectly balanced superhero comics without fail every month. We haven't been told yet if Remender plans on ending this series soon, but I really wouldn't be surprised if this plays out to be the final arc of the series given the dire situations we're seeing the team placed in in each issue. Regardless if it'll continue on longer, or end some time in the near future, I can't wait to see what comes in the future of this series. Read Full Review
This issue makes for an unexpected but very enjoyable detour from the Brotherhood conflict. And as bloody as issue #27 was, this issue's ending manages to shock and unnerve even more. The wait for the next issue now seems more difficult than ever. Read Full Review
Remender enjoys playing with time and space in Uncanny X-Force, and Issue #28 is another example of this. The current arc isn't as epic as his "Dark Angel Saga," but readers can see "Days of Preemptive Future" taking shape. Because Remender is so comfortable taking X-Force into different timelines and alternate universes, the impact isn't as impressive as some of his other work. But Remender's characterization, and his penchant for exciting climaxes, makes Uncanny X-Force an interesting comic, even if its motif feels repetitive. Read Full Review
