The X-Men get up to the delicate art of living as the Sisterhood plan their imminent demise. The Science Team gets to work, trying very hard not to kill one another first. Simon Trask gains traction in the California state legislature, muscling PROPOSITION X to an emergency ballot vote. If it passes, mutants past and present, powered and otherwise, won't be allowed to breed... all this and a friend returns as a foe and ready for murder. Oh, things are getting ugly. Rated T+ …$2.99
What really matters to me is that the series that I have been consistently reading longer than any other throughout my existence as a comic book reader has finally become the flagship mutant title, again. Matt Fraction has endowed the title with a feeling of importance and fun. I would personally enjoy more of a solidified team line up, but the quality of the series has been really high, so I’m not going to complain too much. Read Full Review
Besides the return of Kwannon, this comic was pretty decent. I know I'm usually pretty hard on the X-titles, but Matt did a good job with this issue. Read Full Review
While it seems all I did was complain this issue, this series has the potential to be great. Fraction has shown that in other series, but it hasn't reached that level yet. Something as simple as a more active editor would do wonders in molding the sometimes overambitious story into something a little more manageable. A very solid issue of "Uncanny X-Men" that has me thinking that, maybe, I should be picking this series up every month. It's not groundbreaking, but it is the best "X-Men" comic I've read since Morrison left the titles. Read Full Review
Uncanny X-Men #508 was a well drawn issue without a story. This issue was a step backwards from the previous 2 issues. Read Full Review
*Note, I am biased here. I came back to comics with Uncanny X-Men #338 when I saw Angel's wings return on the cover. I could not afford the book as I was a poor student, so my wife picked it up for me without my knowing. It is still one of my prize pieces of my collection. My one hope is that Fraction will link this story back to that issue where Angel's wings were returned to him as an ominous gift from Apocalypse's servant Ozymandias in a story that ultimately went nowhere.
