Sep 02, 2026Venom #261 takes a surprisingly personal detour during Queen in Black to finally confront the bad blood between Venom and Reed Richards. Al Ewing finds plenty to unpack in their shared history, allowing Venom's anger to boil over before giving both characters an opportunity to reckon with mistakes made long ago. The extended opening recap eats up valuable space, and it's a little strange watching everyone take time for a training-room chat while Earth is under attack, but the character work makes the quieter approach worthwhile. Carlos Gómez continues to excel with expressive character work and energetic action, while the cliffhanger firmly brings the story back into the larger event. Read Full Review
