    IGN - Bryan Joel Jan 3, 2009

Your enjoyment of War Machine's first issue could depend largely on how much of the character's recent history you've been following, and how much you cared about it. As a new reader, you'll find a basic shoot-'em-up comic with a sci-fi/tech twist, and as a fan of the character's developments in recent months you might lament the lost potential in these pages. It's only the first issue, but I'm personally a little underwhelmed. Read Full Review

Eye On Comics - Don MacPherson Jan 7, 2009

Appropriately enough, this new title has a lot in common with Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca's Invincible Iron Man. Ultimately, this comic reads like a concept from 1992, when the way to make a comic more interesting was to load a couple extra rocket launchers on a character's back. I hope Pak and Manco take the series farther than they imply in "War Machine" #1, but after one issue, it really just seems like an armored Punisher riff, and that's just not enough. Comics Bulletin - Kyle Garret Dec 30, 2008

Still, there's nothing here to be interested in, nothing unique or really even entertaining. They would have been better off making it a comedy: "War Machine: Half man, half machine, ALL WAR." Read Full Review
