You gotta praise this book in taking a different approach to the Evil Dead series and even though it found itself in more familiar territory by the end, it was still an impressive first outing for this series. It's working with familiar faces and objects in ways that none of us ever expected to see from this franchise and the art was top notch. Any horror fans or just people that enjoy the Evil Dead Trilogy should definitely get their hands on this book and see Evil Dead in a whole new way. Read Full Review
This was an okay read" not too long or complicated. The artwork is excellent and it's a fun little story based on the Evil Dead franchise, but it fails in that it concentrates on a new character, missing the elements that make the series so great " namely Bruce Campbell's Ash. His character gets relegated to the sidelines with only a few lines of dialogue, two of which are just "groovy". I get that the first issue is a freebie and is meant to tease the three issue series enough to get my interest, but I'm not sure I'd pay money for the second issue unless I knew it had more Ash and less Annie. The Evil Dead franchise is all about Ash. However, this comic attempts to mimic Ash on a different character and it just doesnt work. Everything is too stylizedthe artwork, the writing, the story. This arc is just not what an Evil Dead story should be about. There is magic aplenty, but no zombies, very little Ash, and this story is not very funny. This story needs to be taken back to the drawing board. I almost didnt enjoy this book at all, and I have little hope for future instalments in this arc. Read Full Review
