This is perhaps the strongest issue of this particular story arc to date. I loved how this chapter gives more time and attention to Valeria, showing that she is every bit Conan’s equal when it comes to fighting and mental toughness. The panels in which Morley taunts her, believing he has the upper hand, reveal much about her character as she refuses to submit to him. I also loved that Valeria manages to escape on her own, without help from anyone. As for the artwork, Rodriguez really knocks it out of the park. The panels depicting the swordfight between Valeria and Morley are lush. The issue closes with a brilliant cliffhanger, and although it is somewhat predictable, it is executed beautifully. Conan the Barbarian #35 brings eldritch horrors that would be at home in an H.P. Fortunately, her will is strong, and his indomitable, so the cultists have their work cut out for them if they wish to give their dark god a sacrifice. Conan the hunter has been unleashed, and woe be to any who dare get in his way. Read Full Review
