They find Fakir in the depths of the Nevada desert, and from there on it's plot-twist-galore just as they seem to get the upper hand. Cleverly, the future and present are tied together and it works perfectly. The series is heading to a great place and we're hugely engrossed in both timelines, so it's a good time to be a Ninjak fan. Ninjak #19 gave us some superb storytelling in a way that is both interesting without hitting you over the head with things. Kindt crafts two very distinct stories that compliment each other completely. Meanwhile, Evans, Arreola, Guinaldo and Sotomayor give their own distinct artist prints on their respective stories, allowing their unique styles and colors blending in a spectacular union of sequential art. The revelation of Colin's illness was stunning and a bit horrific while Dr. Silk's return was an uncomfortable, but welcomed reunion by the devious bastard. I love me some Ninjak and issue nineteen is no exception to this rule. Despite my initial shock of reading about Grandpa Ninjak, the catch up page and some good writing helped bridge the gap for what I missed and I was off and running in no time.  We also get a backup story, as usual, which ties the future into the present in a very clever way. It's an excellent touch the team uses to keep all moving parts knit together well.  I continue to like where this series is going and can't wait to see how this arc impacts Ninjak in both timelines moving forward. If you stop and think about it, the protagonists are fairly ridiculous " a techno-ninja and an axe-wielding immortal? " but by playing it straight, Valiant pulls it off. Ninjak #19 even manages to be funny, especially when the two heroes awkwardly order a hotel room in Vegas. I'm also floored by the villains in this series: many-armed Fakir is weird enough, but doesn't hold a candle to the seriously creepy mad science-warlock, Dr. Silk. Ninjak #19 ends with a seriously awesome splash page. You have to see it. Read Full Review
