Toward the future, toward UNITY...
With his nationstate of Dacia fortified in the eastern Hungary, X-O Manowar has bent the world to his will. But he will not stand unopposed. With the assembled forces of the United Nations and NATO primed to assail the newly founded homeland of the Visigoth people, the man inside the indestructible Manowar armor is about find himself more vulnerable than ever -- and with everything he holds dear on the threshold of a terrible turning point for the Valiant Universe...
I can't recommend this book enough. With excellent pacing, plot, and characterization, X-O Manowar delivers with one of the best-constructed monthly books on the shelves. Read Full Review
This title continues to impress with each issue and with the introduction of a new, major threat and the world going against Aric, the future of the series is looking so bright that a visor on the X-O armour is finally making perfect sense to me! This is yet another great read that forms part of an exceptional title! Read Full Review
X-O MANOWAR #18 is an impressive lead in to UNITY. The build up, over the past few issues has been marvelous and the fact there's downtime between the two more major events just makes the anticipation for UNITY all that much greater. Aside from the fact that this is a book you really should read if you plan on reading UNITY and a couple minor art critiques, this was an exceptionally fun issue featuring one hell of a battle featuring the Visigoth people standing up for themselves, while Aric was off destroying a submarine. This issue has a lot for comic fans to love, and while it's not the best jumping on place (#15 is a bit better), picking this book up is worth your while. Read Full Review
Unfortunately that focus and determination are concentrated almost exclusively into Aric's ancient morality and sense of duty. This drive served to Aric's advantage when he stood up against the Vine and brought their society to ruin, but his vigor and stubbornness are less appreciated on Earth where it's 2013 and modern society hasn't observed Visigoth territorial demarcations for over 2000 years. The first attack that just very well may lead us straight into Unity. Aric now knows that he will have to fight for what he thinks is his own. Him and his people who he has to also fight to regain trust as their supposed King. What was diplomacy has now turned into war, one which Harada is now ready to step into. Lee Garbett is very capable of handling a lot of what goes on in these pages and that is something to appreciate when there is so much action, and much more to be expected as this story progresses. If you are interested in Valiant's upcoming crossover event, Unity, this is a must read to understand what will lead to this monumental clash of Valiant's strongest against the X-O Manowar. There is no reason to stop reading X-0 Manowar at this point, but readers have the right to be frustrated by the plot not quite turning gears as fast as most would like. This will definitely read better in a collected format. Read Full Review
Seeing real world reactions to super heroes is always fun and exciting, and as usual, Vendetti and Garbett do a wonderful job. This was probably one of the more realistic approaches to the subject matter since Supreme Power, and it also leads into Unity as well. An integral read for any Valiant fan. Read Full Review
Venditti is doing things with this series that are intriguing and unexpected. I love the power struggle between Aric's people. It makes sense (although it doesn't make sense that the other armor was found and taken so easily).
Italia - aric dovrà affrontare più imprevisti del previsto: da una parte gli Usa e harada (!), russi e resto del mondo, guerra intestina fra le sue fila, che non lo riconosco più come re. Aric si dimostra un sovrano acerbo. Disegni fantastici, molto naturali, ottimo issue.
