It's fine! Very 90's, if that's the kind of thing you're into. I definitely think the ongoing witchblade is a little more interesting, but I think that's up to a lot of taste.

Monstress #63

This feels like your typical, run-of-the-mill superhero comic. None of the characters grabbed me the way a first issue should. Nor did the story either. They talked and tried to put something behind it, but to me it felt flat. And that ending was certainly a... Choice, I guess. Pass on #2.

Pretty fluff issue outside of Sara's big declaration of love.

The art is pretty awesome, but the story leaves a lot to be desired. About half the issue is just people saying stuff like "It was that rat, Diazapam!", "Welcome to my lair, my name is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", and "You'll never get me, Buttboy!". Wayy too much exposition and set up, just for it all to get pulled out from underneath you at the end. The kind of thing that feels kind of l more

the weakest story so far, but that's kind of understandable considering it's more of a side gig than anything else before the next headliner. Love the idea of it, but think we could have spent a biiit more time on each story/made each one a bit more impactful. As it was, it felt a little rushed for my tastes. Nonetheless, the art is beautiful and I appreciate the dive into the nature of Magic itse more
Zatanna #4
Zatanna Zatara is the Prime Magus. But what is a Prime Magus? Join us as Zatanna reveals the beginnings of its concealed history, tells stories of her Greatest Tour thus far, and hints at the secrets and mysteries that continue to lie in wait.
There's a disquieting rhythm established in this series, each issue feeling like a lurching step towards the grave. Hypocrisy slithers and winds around each character (including our protagonist), ready to eat its fill. While the character art isn't exactly my thing, the compositions and colours mostly are.

And every one is going to discover that the old gods of the woods care not at all for their desires. They have lusts of their own. Reader discretion is advised as JAMES TYNI...
Minotaur (2026)
Five years ago, a government supercomputer triggered the Singularity: an explosion of technological superintelligence heralding an unimaginable tomorrow. At least, it almost did. Within moments, a failsafe activated. The plug was pulled. The future was aborted. But something leaked in those first picoseconds, through wire and wave. And now? The fut...
What a banger of a first issue! Combines so many things that I love about comics: weirdness, an attitude of self criticism, beautiful art, ugly people, multimedia shenanigans, and a commentary on the past, present, and future.

This series has mostly fed on uncertainty up to this point, and that does not change with this issue. It's hard to cheer for anything when the whole plot feels like a sick game they're playing on you. Thankfully, I dig that vibe so I'm happy to stick around with it.
Batwoman #5
As Batwoman’s quest to avenger her sister’s death reaches its apex, she discovers the Dark Faith have a new, much more terrifying plan. A Kane must be the Alice who ushers in the era of Darkseid…and if Beth is dead, Kate must take her place. How do you fight the devil when the devil is real? Greg Rucka & DaNi bring an epic conclusion to their first...
Slowly revving up, but still feels like a lot of teasers more than anything. Pacing is better than the first issue, and in general it feels more confident and self-assured. Maybe that's just because I'm already invested in this world a bit, but I definitely found Dev a more interesting character in this one. The humour/dialogue is still very hit or miss, and as a self proclaimed lover of works whe more
