What a banger of a first issue! Combines so many things that I love about comics: weirdness, an attitude of self criticism, beautiful art, ugly people, multimedia shenanigans, and a commentary on the past, present, and future.

Hm. There are some interesting ideas introduced here, but I also found this to just be a bit odd. Perhaps I'm just not picking up on certain things, but I just felt as though the plot moved very strangely. Not really sure how to describe it, honestly. Dowling's interiors were pretty solid, but Spurrier left me feeling a bit underwhelmed by this, particularly considering that I know he's capable of great comics and that I liked the premise shared in the solicitation. I don't dislike this book at all, hence my rating. I just feel like it could have been a lot better, and I'm hoping it can realize the potential I feel it has sooner rather than later.
