This is a surprise Mary Marvel book and its better for it because wow, they really found interesting stuff to do with her in this setting.
With Baron Cinder and his lieutenants kept occupied by the mother of all diversions, the team attempts a daring raid on the Blood Farm to retrieve the one person who can bring sunlight back to the world. However, they have not reckoned on the terrifying presence of the Baron's vampire knights-familiar faces whose blades are every bit as bloodthirst...
With the last person in her corner gone and the Order of St. George closing in, Erica finds herself totally alone and without a prayer.
Can she take on the terrifying Doppelganger Duplicitype by herself, or is this the end of her story?

Another good one. This side-story has been steadingly getting better with each and every issue that passes. Mary Marvel continues to be, by far, the most interesting character in this story and putting her fun and innocent (yet mature whenever necessary) personality in contrast with the horror story backdrop works very, very well.
And the best part is that it does so in ways that earn more
Betrayed and out of options, the pitiful remnants of the team head to a bleak and desolate Central City for one last Hail Mary as Baron Cinder's terrifying lieutenants close in. Will a Marvel Family showdown at the end of the world snuff out humanity's last hope, or will the team's final desperate gamble pay off?
I really like how Mary is being written in this. She's hopeful, altrustic, has that old school Golden Age trustfulness with everybody and the same time she's serious, independent, mature, knows perfectly well how terrible the situation is and the kind of terrible people she's had to work with.
And her scene with Billy felt like something out of a Stephen King story in the best ways.
