Elsewhere, John Constantine might well be the human resistance's last hope...just a shame he can't remember what it was he was meant to be doing. Enter The Sp...

BATMAN LEGEND SCOTT SNYDER AND ICONIC ARTIST NICK DRAGOTTA TRANSFORM THE DARK KNIGHT'S TALE FOR THE MODERN AGE! Without the mansion...without the money...without the butler...what's left is the Absolute Dark Knight!
Excellent. This series is honestly the best current Elseworld story DC is publishing. By far actually. Compelling, intriguing and without losing sight on character work.
I have a theory on who the new Batman is going to be that I think I may love.
The war between vampires and heroes rages on with bloody casualties on all sides, but Damian Wayne, the vampire with the mind of a human, remains the most desired prize in the fray. Both Green Arrow and the vampire army seek to put him down for good, and it's starting to look like Damian's days are numbered...until a Dark Knight emerges from the sh...

I actually enjoyed that swerve a lot.
The cataclysmic final issue of the bestselling series will end with a bang and a whimper! Green Arrow will lead humanity’s final charge from the blood mines of Smallville. Supergirl’s mission to get off-world comes to an explosive end. And it’s Batgirl versus Nightwing for the fate of the entire planet-the stakes couldn’t be higher as the f...
Enjoyed the reveal but I think the tone shift was too suddem.
The deadly duo of The Joker and the Key have twisted the increasingly powerful Boy Thunder into a walking time bomb of destructive power! Batman and Superman's quest to guide young David toward the light takes an unexpected turn when the Teen Titans learn of the dark secret he's been hiding from the World's Finest! The Titans issue their ultimatum-...
The backup was excellent as always, but the main story uneven.
The grand finale! With the dying embers of their hope rekindled at the eleventh hour, what’s left of John Constantine’s Suicide Squad attempts to traverse the badlands with precious cargo in tow. But just as final victory over the vampires and their endless night seems all but assured, the team must contend with their most powerful and terrifyi...
This is literally the eleventh hour and it works great, in the Gotham story, the action ramps up, but the twists and turns keep coming up and Barbara's team will have to face Nightwing. Green Arrow's story is a bit more low-stakes, yet it looks like it's the one carrying more hope.
And Kara and her team finally manage to reach the much needed sunlight, but there's a last minute cliffhan more
Humanity's final battles against King Nightwing and his vampire armies have seemingly failed on all three fronts. Who lives? Who dies? As all hope is extinguished, will the surviving heroes be able to stop the extinction of the human race?
Another good one. This side-story has been steadingly getting better with each and every issue that passes. Mary Marvel continues to be, by far, the most interesting character in this story and putting her fun and innocent (yet mature whenever necessary) personality in contrast with the horror story backdrop works very, very well.
And the best part is that it does so in ways that earn more
Betrayed and out of options, the pitiful remnants of the team head to a bleak and desolate Central City for one last Hail Mary as Baron Cinder's terrifying lieutenants close in. Will a Marvel Family showdown at the end of the world snuff out humanity's last hope, or will the team's final desperate gamble pay off?
I really like how Mary is being written in this. She's hopeful, altrustic, has that old school Golden Age trustfulness with everybody and the same time she's serious, independent, mature, knows perfectly well how terrible the situation is and the kind of terrible people she's had to work with.
And her scene with Billy felt like something out of a Stephen King story in the best ways.

This was very good again. This series is ending soon and it's been a wild ride. We finally get into Gotham. The little character moments packed with the dialogue, between Supergirl's team, Green Arrow and Hawkman and specially Barbara and Damian are just so very well done, it's a series that keeps you entertained just with those bits.
But it also knows how to pack a lot of content in a more
The war for Earth takes a decisive turn as the heroes prepare to strike back! Can Supergirl and her team in Australia escape to space? Will the Birds of Prey's infiltration of Gotham City go unnoticed by the Vampire King? Can Green Arrow save the human cattle from the Blood Farm? The shocking answers await!
The main story has gotten strong. First time both the main story and the backup are pretty good.
With Baron Cinder and his lieutenants kept occupied by the mother of all diversions, the team attempts a daring raid on the Blood Farm to retrieve the one person who can bring sunlight back to the world. However, they have not reckoned on the terrifying presence of the Baron's vampire knights-familiar faces whose blades are every bit as bloodthirst...
After what I thought was a bit of a haphazardly written end of the first arc and a good but otherwise forgettaable denoument in issue 6, we go back to this series and we get a very strong start of a new arc.
The humour works well because it doesn't undercut the drama and drama works well precisely because it's contrasted with the colorful settting.
BRAND-NEW STORY ARC! The untold story of Superman's short-lived sidekick is at last revealed, but what secret connection to one of DC's most timeless tales does this story foreshadow? Only time will tell (that's a clue, folks). The next epic arc in the World's Finest saga begins here! INTRODUCING: BOY THUNDER!
The backup was again much better than the main story, but overall still a fun read.
The apocalyptic Suicide Squad team are planning for an all-out assault at the Blood Farm when one of Gotham's daughters finds them first. Batwoman gives them the chance to risk it all to save one of their own...but will this new mission give them the power they need to take on the mysterious Lord Cinder and his lieutenants? Or are they playing righ...
First of all, please DC, continue that Nightwing prequel story with the same creative team because wow! That backup was excellent, both Vieceli’s writing and Haining’s art. I loved that, despite how short it was (reading both parts) everyone was in-character, the betrayal hit hard and it was presented with a good level of intrigue. I want to see how Nightwing becomes the new King and starts himore

This issue is firing on all cilinders and it's just great.
The characters are pitch-perfect. That "lone hunter" Green Arrow works like a charm and found his conversation with Grifter (nice cameo) pretty hilarious as does Damian finding the Birds of Prey at the end of this issue's cliffhanger.
The pacing is great and each tale compliments the other, the dialogue works very wel more
Road trip! Our heroes split up and spread out across the globe to prepare for the final strikes against the vampire kingdom! Will Green Arrow's mission force him to battle one of his oldest friends? What horrors await the Birds of Prey inside the ruins of Gotham? And does Black Manta's secret mean a watery grave for Supergirl?
The survivors of a horrifying vampire attack, led by Deathstroke, take shelter with Talia al Ghul. With intel from a hero recently saved from vampirism, John Constantine prepares them for a (suicide) mission, while Midnighter goes through every scenario in his head and finds out the dark truth. Meanwhile the mysterious vampire Lord Cinder has becom...
Well this was a perfect low stakes "calm-before-the-storm" issue. I loved how all the characters are set, not jsut their external missions, but also their internal conflicts. I'm specially curious about Kara, who literally has the weight of the world on her shoulders, yet seems to be unconvinced and the story implies, via Ryan Choi, that there's something else in play. I also like that Barbara seemore
THE BATTLE FOR EARTH CONTINUES IN THIS BLOODTHIRSTY SERIES! The surviving heroes put their various plans in motion in their last attempt to save humanity!
