Phantasmagoria (2022) #1

Fells like a Jack The Ripper erra. This comic is Victorian London. Slaughter Spree with a character like that of Van Helsing. The story has captivated me. The line art in BW offered an atmosphere of grim. The story does feel retold and unoriginal. Definitely a slow burner. Ok, I need to add that the paper used to print this comic along with the BW line art helped create this experience while reading. I love that the creators paid attention to this detail.

I finally had the chance to read this comic. I saw the Music video from AL1CE and it caught my attention. I've been reading comics since I was 5. That was how I learned how to read and write. As a child of immigrants, this comicbook drew a lot of emotions. A Mexican Chinese main character is a main character?! And she's also a female super hero?? How many female superheros do we have out there? Not many. BiBi is like the WonderWomen in Image Comic, with PTSD. The breaking of the 4th wall. Is she talking to me? Will I the reader be a part of the journey through the mental and physical battles? Cause I feel like I am. I am drawn in. And the MASK!!! The MASK!!

I'm curious to see where this is building towards. The art is ok in this issue. It feels a little rushed. Still enjoying the representation and awareness this issue is building towards. I did cry reading this issue as some parts as a veteran hits home.

This issue blew me away. The art and easter eggs. The humor. The cultural and queer representation. The emotion. How it feels to want to die. Nothing to live for, so you are more than willing to sacrafice yourself w/o a thought, then become angered because you lived.

The PLOT...what an explosion. This buildup. The character development. The battle. The special guest.

The Dead Lucky is a comicbook for someone with an open mind. It's for someone who is mature and when I say open-minded, I mean someone who is open to queer, veterans, diversity, culture, adventure, and inner battle. This comic is a mental/emotional rollercoaster. The story is like a heroic poem. This on going comicbook of a queer female Latin-Asian American US Army veteran’s journey. Lots of Mech and explosions. Every issue I find something I can relate to. Issue #6, I laughed and cried as I read. Melissa Flores captured what it’s like to be Bibi. The emotions, the thoughts, the struggles; someone with PTSD and/or a minority can relate to. The graphic, the pacing, the story, and the emotions packeted into this comicbook is astounding. Thank you for bringing a piece of military life, PTSD, multi-cultural, and diversity to light. Thank you for showing love and care to the characters as if they are your love and friends. I can’t wait to read more on where this story goes.

Love this special edition. A comicbook shop was getting rid of their leftover comic so they gave me a copy. Thank you for the intro. to this comic. The art is AMAZING. Love the detail in the art. The small details created drama and an impact to the reader. A game where human lives are at stake. Holy Batman this fun contemporary action horror story that breezes quickly to its end They detail exactly what it is that’s at stake, but once things get rolling, it’s a explosive.
