I could maybe do without the intense melodrama of the narration, but this is an origin story hugely worth its salt, for a character that hugely deserves it.

If we are ignoring the incalculable cultural impact that would follow the birth of Superman, I bet that the concept of the character was intensely exciting in 1938, and the brief look into some of Superman's escapades is genuinely engaging.

I love the commercialization of the concept of Superman. It's also really funny, but mostly unintentionally.

Similar to the introduction of Superman, I would've been quite excited to read this in 1939!

A compelling and adequately regal introduction to Thor.

First Mjolnir usage + Hela in one issue? Kinda baller.

I genuinely feel bad for Sif. I'm enjoying this so far.

It wasn't the most innovative story, to be sure, but it was a huge leap in quality from the first six issues.

The hammer has been grasped.

The concepts in this issue are more engaging and interesting than those before it.

I think the romantic, in-house angle of this new story is far less obvious with its direction and goals. That's a good thing.

It was better than the last volume, but then you read the last issue, and yeah, terrible again.

The artistic derp of this series becomes more apparent in this issue, not to mention the unearned emotional growth Thor experiences -- as well as the heavy-handed inequality narrative following Sif -- tanking the actual reading experience.

While maybe a slight step up in setting and direction, the plot is starting to feel phoned in.

Nothing about this narrative is qualitatively "good," no matter how hard it tries to be.

While an interesting bit of lore for Thor pre-worthiness, my god does this volume just get worse as it treads on (with the mild exception of issue #4).

This is almost as bad as comics get for me.

Nope. Nope. Nope.
