If we are ignoring the incalculable cultural impact that would follow the birth of Superman, I bet that the concept of the character was intensely exciting in 1938, and the brief look into some of Superman's escapades is genuinely engaging. |

I love the commercialization of the concept of Superman. It's also really funny, but mostly unintentionally. |

Similar to the introduction of Superman, I would've been quite excited to read this in 1939! |

I could maybe do without the intense melodrama of the narration, but this is an origin story hugely worth its salt, for a character that hugely deserves it. |

A compelling and adequately regal introduction to Thor. |

Thor: Son of Asgard (2004) #2
Nov 28, 2024 |
The artistic derp of this series becomes more apparent in this issue, not to mention the unearned emotional growth Thor experiences -- as well as the heavy-handed inequality narrative following Sif -- tanking the actual reading experience. |

Thor: Son of Asgard (2004) #3

While maybe a slight step up in setting and direction, the plot is starting to feel phoned in. |

I think the romantic, in-house angle of this new story is far less obvious with its direction and goals. That's a good thing. |

It was better than the last volume, but then you read the last issue, and yeah, terrible again. |
