Alien: Paradiso (2024) #1

Dec 15, 2024

Any longtime fan of the comic series is going to know exactly what they are getting with yet another Alien #1. The writing is good, the art is outstanding, but my quarrel with the Alien series is that it is always much of the same. Once again we are thrown into a new story that feels very similar to other Alien stories with a slightly different cast, plot, and setting. Personally I just want to see Alien try something a little different and please god do it for more than 5 or 6 issues. With all that being said, this is in no way a bad comic which is why I give it a very solid 7.5.

Batman (2016) #155

Dec 7, 2024

Lately I feel like Batman has been firing on all cylinders and this issue is no exception. To the whole world, even Batman, it seems that Jim Gordon murdered the mayor in cold blood and to the reader you will start to believe it too. Writing, art, colors, and letters combined to make this 3rd part of the story come together and it doesn’t disappoint! Pick up a copy yourself and you decide, would Gordon kill the mayor, his lovers husband?!

Batman: Dark Patterns (2024) #1

Dec 15, 2024

Very interesting first issue that will definitely pull you in and have you asking questions almost immediately. It’s really nice to see a young bats and who hasn’t missed Alfred?! It seems that Watters and Sherman have combined to bring a classic Gotham back and in a gorgeous way. I’m a little hesitant on the bad guy but it’s only issue 1 so we’ll have to wait and see more from him but the writing, art, colors, and letters are all DCs finest (all pun intended). Any classic Batman fan will certainly find a lot to love with this series.

Deadpool / Wolverine: Weapon X-Traction (2024) #1

Dec 7, 2024

This was 100 percent gimmicky, albeit enjoyable but it’s just another “hero’s save multiverse” with a Deadpool/wolverine spin. The saving grace was it had a heartfelt ending but honestly I wouldn’t waste the money with this one.

Two-Face (2024) #1

Dec 7, 2024

Harvey Dent’s first ongoing series starts off with BANG! From the get go, the art is phenomenal and is enough to pull you in alone. I had my reservations that this would just be a gimmicky, throw away series but I was dead wrong. Christian Ward has given Two Face a very compelling plot line and supporting cast here just in issue 1 that keeps you wanting more. Every page really brought me in to the story and left me dying to know what was coming next and of course the final page really leaves you wanting issue #2 like immediately. I am very, VERY excited to see what is in store for Gotham’s favorite bad boy lawyer 🪙

Ultimate Wolverine (2025) #1

Jan 25, 2025

Here it is, my first ever 10! I don’t throw this number around lightly but good lord this book is an absolute BANGER. Now, biases aside, I have been waiting for this book ever since the very first teaser for it months ago and it did not disappoint. I haven’t read any of the other Ultimate Universe books (sue me, I ain’t rich sorry bub) and normally these huge crossover books/universes really throw me for a loop but I love how this book doesn’t need any extra context to pick it up and you feel like you know exactly what’s going on and you won’t need 10 other books to fill in the blanks. The art is some of the best I’ve ever seen in a Wolverine book and the story is so well written in this first issue that I am just so completely satisfied with how this series is going to go. If you like wolverine you’re going to love this series and if you like action then strap in! I cannot wait for issue 2!
