Pretty good so far. It sets up a lot of things and engages us with a good mystery and characters from the start, and the introduction to them is great! Seriously, what a good start. But yea tho, taking some off some points in this rating just because of how dark the tone is, it invites us Viewers in knowing nothing about this World, but the more we get to learn about it, the more edgy it gets. Being dark is a neither good or bad thing on its own, it just gets a little overly dark. Also, coloring issue with the eyebrows of Veidt on page 17. Aside from that, good issue, and great introduction! |

Good, pretty much similar praise with the first issue, although I will say they did make the Comedian a more interesting character and the mystery surrounding the incident that took place in the first issue. So it did great in that department, but the reason why I feel like this issue is overall weaker compared to the first one is that they go way overboard on the dark tones of this world. I don't usually criticize anything in general for having this, but the World in Watchmen just feels overly Dark. Other than that, nothing else to say but yea good issue. |

Again, similar reasoning with the last review on the previous issue, but its just that the World keeps getting darker, which is nice because its a reactant to what happens this issue, which is very good, like I just wish there was something to balance all this darkness, Dan and Laurie is pretty hopeful I guess, but even then its only cause of the stuff shes in RN which is kinda hopeless. Either way tho, everything else hit, the characterization and characters in general have been the best since this entire run so far, and I'm excited to see how the future issues go. I just simply hope Issue 4 is something a little less dark, because seriously this edgy vibe is something that is just a little too extreme for me imo. |

Well....To say this issue is not a masterpiece would be a lie, this has been the best issue so far! Never have I ever been so connected to an issue like this before! Seriously, this is something else! Dr. Manhattan as a character and his story has gotten so much more interesting...Seriously, he may be one of the greatest characters in comics! I mean, my only complaints still are some miscolorings and a super dark World, but aside from that, this issue was near perfection, and for many it probably just is perfection. |

I feel bad for rating this issue this low. But honestly, that's just how I feel about it. Maybe its because it comes after SUCH a great issue, but this one was rather slow to get through, a slog...Just the pessimism too, it just gets so overwhelming, although this is probably the first issue to were they try and break this constant stream of just overwhelming despair with some happy moments, which bumped it up a little IMO. The pirate sections this issue were underwhelming to say the least, while they weren't my favorite part of the story, its clear then and even now they are tryna tell something through its plot to us readers, and also I just love the Bernie and the Bernard, they rarely interact but man they jus chill with one another. This issue however? It just felt like way too much, like way too much of these two characters and this pirate story, like I understand its important for the Universe but it didn't engage me that much and immerse me compared to the previous issue. Also, the constant formatting of the nine panels felt VERY repetitive this issue compared to the previous ones, this habit is a bad one which I hope doesn't persist in future issues. The final critique I have is the structure, compared to the previous issue, we got to connect with Dr. Manhattan, this issue? We don't really get to connect with...Anyone, we just see the plot move forward, and while that is nice to happen, directly after such an emotionally gripping story like the last one, it just feels like too sharp of a contrast to be that good of a follow up. Other than that, my usual praises remain the same, but I will say though the Art in this issue was the best the Art has been this entire series, so I feel like that gives this issue a couple more points than before. Other than that, good comic but worst watchmen issue thus-far. |

Honestly, I wanted to rate this issue higher, like I may have rated this issue a 9/10, because of what that one sequence did for Rorschach like....I'm sorry, but that moment was lowkey awesome, no spoilers obviously but once you read this issue, you'll see why I feel this way. Sadly, this issue if plagued with many problems, and this sequence is the only saving grace from not making it a score that's any lower than this. The prisoners were 1D characters, which its a comic so its more of a problem of the format than anything else, like the prisoners didn't need to be complex characters so this is a very minor nitpick of mine. The psychologist stuff was good, but then again it just felt a little extra ngl, like whenever I see someone make some strong or edgy OC and give them accomplishments like this, like it feels like the only reason this happened to the psychologist in the plot is due to plot and not the actual character affecting him like that, even though its pretty obvious whats happening to him and why. Finally, my biggest critique...The racial slur, and I'm sorry but I seriously don't understand how anyone could defend Moore for putting some dude who just randomly screams the N-Word Hard R out of nowhere like that? In shows like the Wire and Snowfall, it makes sense and they don't just say it out of the blue. In this issue, it just felt out of nowhere and only to be used for shock value, which I consider to be a pretty terrible thing. So yeah, if it wasn't for that amazing sequence with Rorschach, this issue may have been in the 60s due to how flawed this issue is. |

Well, I gotta say this issue was pretty good. Finally, after six issues of this constant darkness, we have an issue with some light! Sure, it acknowledges the bad stuff happening in the World, but both Dan and Laurie being cheerful and real and being kinda hopeful makes me feel, well, a little good instead of feeling bad due to the previous stuff. It is a nice balance between both Yin and Yang that Alan Moore beforehand hadn't been able to accomplish, but through these two characters, he finally did the thing I wanted most from Watchmen, having some light in this dark, dark world. Other than that, usual thing with it having good art, good plot, most good stuff. Only critiques I have that pull it a 85 are the fact that there are some pacing issues or whatever like when Dan wakes up he sees the Sun and when Laurie wakes up its 3 in the morning, so unless the Sun just looks like the moon or I'm missing some crucial context, I feel like this a little bit of a plot hole unless Dan just spent a couple hours with these goggles in his Owl Cave with his goggles on butt booty naked. Also, very slow pace at the start, I was worried abt this entire issue being focused on these guys, but eh, I feel better that it was, because it allowed us to really connect with them, something missing in Issue 5. I see some stuff with Veidt in the background during Dan and Laurie's first thing scene, so I'm wondering what thats abt, gonna keep a close eye on him since we know the least abt him for now. |

Welp, not gonna lie this issue was very good, like honestly I'm glad how Watchmen is evolving right now, like seriously I only have two major issues for this issue, this is excluding the darkness of the World and just overly Dark World stuff and allat. These two Major problems I got with this issue is 1: The amount of skin eyebrows, I understand, people make mistakes, but the amount of skin eyebrows during this issue was insane, and pulled me out of a lot of important moments in this issue, so I'm gonna deduct a couple points just for that. 2: This new guy is introduced near the end of the issue, and I won't try and spoil it here, but reading what this dude can do and what happened to him, I feel like this is just gonna be a poorly executed Dues Ex Machina, and I'm deducting points based off this feeling, and plus we seen Alan execute a good one in the same issue, so if he can do that, he is also capable of executing a bad one, proven here in this issue. Aside from that, the plot, the characters, all of it, even the twists...Man, they were great! W issue, and second favorite issue of the series so far for me. |

While I do like this issue, I will address my three main critiques before talking about the positives and what I liked about this issue, because I think its a must that I talk about the critiques before I give this very good issue any praise. The are 3 main critiques I have. 1: The laziness in Coloring, like holy crap, last issue there was a bunch of miscolorings, and this issue too! I understand Alan Moore was difficult on his artist, but some of these miscolorings are so crazy they just frustrate me a lot. 2: Retcons, you can say whatever abt the Comedian being foreshadowed to be Laurie's father, but me? I didn't really buy it till now. Like yea, this issue was set up for this reveal, but it also did a whole bunch of stuff outside of the plot to the characters, like giving a reason why Sal broke up with her husband due to Sal cheating on him with the Hooded Justice, and making the Hooded Justice gay, and the Lewis drinking problems starting earlier. Like these are fine, but I just find it annoying so many retcons happened in this issue. 3: Now listen, during the time they couldn't have known this, but some retroactive stuff abt sperm stuff has been found out, and some of the stuff Dr. Manhattan says just..I mean it makes sense, but yea...I don't know, it just feels strange. But yea tho, some of the things like he talks abt with Time and stuff, as we get a modern science understanding, may be incorrect. But yea tho, that is a nitpick, and I have some more nitpicks in this issue, like how they handle Watergate, like...Dude, Nixon and his administration didn't know beforehand abt these reports and what was gonna happen, and bro he did such a good thing a panel before abt Al Haig...Like I don't know, its such a contrast, Alan understands politics greatly till he don't. Other than that, wow, the characterization and development this issue? Alan been cooking for the previous 2 issues with character development, and man he did a great job here too! Seriously, I'm very happy with how he's developing these characters of his like Laurie and Dr. Manhattan, and while I did criticize the Retcons earlier, please know that isn't a full negative, because they were placed and written into this issue pretty smart. But yea tho, this issue is REALLY good, and these flaws are needed for the greatness of this issue to be well...So great. I'm very excited to read Issue 9 now! |

Hm....Well, like the previous issue, I'll name my three main criticisms of this issue, but its really only 2 cuz my second one is just a little tiny one. 1: Miscolorings. Holy moly, what is with the amount of miscolorings happening? Like I thought JoJo's and DB had some bad miscolorings, but nah Watchmen takes it to a whole different level, this isn't even a like "Oh this may be some weird shading stuff" no, its just skin eyebrows and genuinely with how good this series is, even small stuff like this breaks my immersion heavily, which sucks. 2: Pirate comic, listen, it was pretty good this time so therefore this isn't as big as a critique as 1 was and what 3 will be, but still, it just pulls me out of the moment and makes the story more sloggy to get through, I understand why its here, but still...Just a slog to get through, even when its good, which is saying something. Now for 3: This one is spoilers, but a certain character...Something happened to him, and lets just say I ain't the biggest fan of it, like yeah, that happened, and I thought the other character's reactions would be greater or something would happen, but nah, they're just approaching the end of the series instead of taking this detour and getting some extra character development. Makes this writing feel cheap and sloppy. Aside from that, the plot, the characters, the art? Awesome af, so yea, this issue gets a good score from me, just wish some of these were changed ngl, these are flaws that can be changed unlike the stuff mentioned in issue 9. |

For this, I feel like it is best to start off with my main criticisms: 1: Veidt's language. Listen, I know to read you gotta know some synonyms and stuff, but tryna decipher what Veidt is saying at times is very difficult, and often pulls me out of important moments like when he poisoned his subordinates, I was too focused on keeping up with his dialogue I didnt notice these guys were dead and didnt notice the foreshadowing, hurting this sequence of panels in the process. 2: Art miscolorings often dampen the impact of rather impactful scenes 3: Slow start, the start of this issue is rather slow, and how the other four issues before it started compared to this, this issue just starts at a freakishly poor pace, which sucks. 4: God damn pirate story, I understand its important for the plot, but it honestly just pulls me out of it so much its insane, esp with how short and predictable what was gonna happen, just didnt feel that impactful ultimately, 5: Nitpicks with how Rorschach didnt feel the cold in the flipping contient of Antarctica, and how Doug Roth describes himself at the bottom of the gene pool, which is the nitpickest of them all cuz dudes gen beautiful, and Alan Moore making up a quote from Ford to fit his story, just felt really lazy. Other than that, wow...Cold reveal man, like woah, what hes doing with that alien, bro I'm gen hyped for the other issue, good plot, good characters, mostly everything is good aside from these 5 main criticisms I have, I hope issue 12 ties everything really well cause I want this to be highly rated story for me frl. |

Listen, I love this issue, and not gonna lie as an ending, its a perfect conclusion to the story that is Watchmen. Seriously, many series want a conclusion so tied up yet so open ended and so satisfying, I wish I could write half as good as Moore did for this ending, especially with allat symbolism too man this is too elite. Sadly, this still achieves a score of 8/10, but not mainly for anything doing with the writing, and I have multiple critiques for this issue. First off, the art this issue was seriously inconsistent, there were some bad panels beforehand, but seriously, this looked like they had 2 weeks to complete this issue instead of 4, some of the art is extremely awesome and other parts of it just sadly fall flat. Either way though, this issue was amazing, and a top tier issue that I'd suggest many people read due to how good it is. Another critique I have is actually about Veidt as a character, don't get me wrong, he is a great character, but again his dialogue is hard to read and not gonna lie when it came to him fighting the characters in this issue it felt like some sort of weird power fantasy more than anything, other than that tho yea. Finally, the last critique I have is just that...The kinda unrealistic conclusion? I said the conclusion was perfect, yes...But bro, why the hell did the burger american place become american x russian burger place...Just feels a little too unrealistic from a comic that portrays realism really well. Either way though yea, this series was good, and I'm thankful for reading it. |
