Oh man, what a trippy issue! But what a great trip that was. The visuals creates such a stirring environment which makes you want to question if everything you're reading is really happening (or if it's through the lens of an unreliable narrator). This is as close as you could get to reading Kirby's psychedelic Dr. Strange issues, and this issue is possibly best enjoyed by popping a few L's :D Certainly NOT a jumping-on point, but this is a fantastic issue in all sense and dimension. |

Bendis did it again! My head exploded on the last page... neural matter everywhere! Damn. 1 month will be too long to wait for the last one, but I will be waiting nonetheless. |

I've never been to the south nor I have paid much attention to southern culture (I'm from the other side of the pacific) -- but WOW, this book is just full of that unique flavor and copious amounts of violence that got me truly interested. |

I really like Adrian Alphona's art, but issue #7 & 8 drawn by fill-in artist Jake Wyatt won me over. There's something about it that reminds me of expressions that characters make in old school manga, and his style really fits the tone of the book. I really like the student-teacher team-up between Wolverine and Kamala and it was thoroughly entertaining. My only gripe with this issue is that Logan talks funny (and with funny I mean strange) in some parts of the book. |

Ultimate FF #1

What an issue! I love how the new line-up is comprised of geniuses (except maybe for Danny Ketch, who is just average, albeit trapped in a mechanical body made out of Gah-lak-tus swarm parts), only to trumped later in the issue by an even more brilliant mind. The banter in this issue amongst the new FF is entertaining, and the story is just light enough to keep new readers of the ultimate universe intrigued without feeling too much lost. I would like to recommend though anyone who wants to try this title, to read the recently concluded Cataclysm event for maximum enjoyment (i.e. how the team was formed, how Danny Ketch became Machine Man, etc.) |
