Alien (2021) #1

May 19, 2021

The inauguration of the cycle was good for Marvel. The first part of the story arc encourages you to follow this story further. It is an interesting mix of psychological horror and a story about the breakdown of family relationships. Aliens will come, but so far the comic book is surprisingly intimate. For me, it's a big advantage.

Alien (2021) #2

This issue, like the previous one, slowly builds up tension. It's still an introduction, but in the end the action speeds up. Finally. The writer managed to deepen the character of Gabriel Cruz a bit. He showed scraps of his past, thanks to which he maintained the psychological credibility of the comic. The next issue seems to be more action-oriented this time. We will see if it is really so.

Alien (2021) #3

As could be expected, the third issue focuses on intense action. It is the action that comes to the fore and pushes everything else further. This is not necessarily a good thing, because the comic loses its vibe. The third issue is worse than the first two, although it can still be entertaining, but fans of Alien and Alien 3 movies will be disappointed by this change of direction.

Alien (2021) #4

The first two issues were good, but then things started to get worse. The third part was still ok, but the storyline headed towards quick action. And in the newest issue there is only action left. It's disappointing because "Alien" can be a great horror story. Unfortunately not this time.

Alien (2021) #5

This comic has become terribly generic. The author tries to keep the reader interested, but does not do it well. The plot is non-engaging at all. The characters had become annoying, and their adventures are impossible to worry about. It's a pity, because the whole comic was going to be much better. While there is still hope that perhaps in the end of the story, it will become more interesting.

Batman '89 (2021) #1

Aug 12, 2021

The opener of the new Batman series is pretty ok. It has to be admitted, however, that this comic works mainly by sentiment for Tim Burton's "Batman". There is hardly anything innovative here, however the characters are drawn really well. We'll see in what direction the action will go, so far I'm a bit optimistic.

Blade Runner: Origins #1

Jun 1, 2021

This is only the first issue, so this is an introduction, and it is perfectly understandable. Consequently, the story is not very fast yet, but it does seem interesting. It looks like the authors use a few clichés (detective tough guy, androids in the wild, secret corporation), but the comic reads surprisingly well. Of course, it doesn't even compare to the original "Blade Runner", but as entertainment it works well.

Blade Runner: Origins #2

The second issue gives the series an even more interesting direction. Replicants begin to play an increasingly important role in events, and the secrets of the Tyrell Corporation are also of great importance. The plot lines run parallel, but they start to come together, which makes the story really addictive. It's very nice to re-enter the world of Blade Runner, especially if the creators are doing such a good job as in the case of this comic particular series.

Blade Runner: Origins #3

In the third issue, the creators fire up a real bomb. This is something new in the world of "Blade Runner", something I personally didn't expect. Is it the so-called "game changer"? Possible. It all depends on how the story goes in the last issue of this story arc. But at the moment, the series is clearly gaining in quality, though it was really engaging before. I am pleased with the reading of this comic book and very curious what ending the authors came up with.

Blade Runner: Origins #4

The thrilling finale of the first story arc. The series is more pulp than the original "Blade Runner", but that doesn't affect the enjoyment of reading. The authors successfully extend the presented world, adding very interesting elements to it. This comic is a lot of fun with a bit more serious reflection. The issue that opens the next chapter of this story (issue number five) promises to be very engaging.

Very good opener. It makes the reader curious about what is actually going on and in which direction the action will go next.

Rorschach (2020) #2

The story unfolds in an interesting direction. There are still more questions than answers here, but I suspect that this may be a whole series. The answers are to be expected at the very end. If we get them at all. Anyway, after two issues, "Rorschach" is a very, very interesting comic.

The third issue finally sheds more light on one of the main characters of the drama. King still does not give us answers to where everything is going, but we get to know the next pieces of this puzzle. Will the plot make sense when we get to know all its components? May it be so. Now, still at the beginning of the reading journey, "Rorschach" is still very intriguing.

Rorschach (2020) #4

This comic keeps getting better with every issue. Tom King runs the story in such a way that the reader is constantly interested in it. Rorschach's secret is not easy to decipher, and I think we will not get all the answers until the premiere of issue twelve. Anyway, in 1/3 of the entire comic book, it starts to be not only very good, but even outstanding.

Another great issue. Tom King tells this story brilliantly. This comic book is extremely interesting, original and ambitious. It is as different from the superhero mainstream as it gets. There is a very good thing anyway.

That Texas Blood #7

Aug 13, 2021

The beginning of the new story arc is intriguing. As you might expect, the action is slow, so far it's just a display, but I liked our senior sheriff so far, so it's good to see that this time the story will be about a matter in his past. I am pleased with the quality of this issue.

The Nobody #1

May 22, 2021

This comic is Lemire before his prime time. His writing here is quite complex and creative - the author tries to reliably present the emotions of the characters. How is it coming out? Pretty good. The main character's alienation is well shown, he is someone whose fate interests the reader. We wonder who he is and why is he running away? And although the answers to these questions are not too difficult to guess, reading is quite engaging. Mainly because the author simply knows how to write about human emotions. And while the strongest titles in his bibliography were yet to come, "The Nobody" is also a comic book worth attention.
