Jun 26, 2019 |
Rylend Grant and the creative team have quite the exciting book on their hands. Given Banjaxs terminal diagnosis, however, it remains to be seen just how far they can stretch this book out, although a limited run may not be the wrong move if the creative team can stay as sharp as they were in this first issue. Dont miss out on this bloody good time and add this to your pull list today! |

Jul 10, 2019 |
Rylend Grant and the creative team have a solid series on their hands. They set the bar quite high with their first issue, and while issue two didnt quite meet that same bar it certainly didnt lose any of the moment built from issue one. The stage is set for an eventual showdown between teacher and student. What remains to be seen though, is who will break first? |

Banjax #3
Aug 22, 2019 |
While issue three returns to the action and great storytelling of chapter one, the excess verbiage and the out of character profanity shouldnt deter readers. While this may be a bit of a misstep, Banjax and the creative team behind it have a bright future. With a story that looks to only get better as the story of Lair Masons one-man crusade continues. |

Oct 27, 2018 |
Border Town has already built a huge base of both haters and fans, but there is no denying that this book is heading in the right direction. These political tensions arent going away anytime soon, so the creative team will have plenty of material to work with. Most readers will also be unaware of the folklore creatures, and that will draw new audiences in that want to learn more about these intriguing horrors of myth and legend. Border Town has the makings of not only a great social commentary book, but also a great horror book that will be remembered for years to come. |

FCBD 2019: The Dark Age / Afterburn #1
May 14, 2019 |
This creative team is off to a really great start. The Dark Age FCBD issue had just enough teaser material to hopefully grow a fan base for the first issue release in July. There is still much of the story yet to be told about the 13 years that have passed since the incident. This is a bold and dangerous world that Ethen is raising his children in. A healthy childhood is a thing of the past as every decision is now life and death and there is no room for error. There always seem to be a litany of comics based around the apocalypse on store shelves. The Dark Age offers enough of variety on the subject to make it worth adding to your pull list. |

Going to the Chapel #1
Sep 10, 2019 |
Going to the Chapel looks to break the mold of typical comics with an intriguing story that doesnt have to rely on superheroes and villains. David Pepose brings all the humor and charm that helped propel Spencer and Locke into the spotlight. His creative team will no doubt continue to bring Peposes story to life. With crisp character designs and bright, vivid colors that will entice readers for future issues. |

Spencer and Locke 2 will quickly prove that the creative team has created something special. Giving classic characters a new twist is not a new idea, but giving them such depth, with trauma and how they cope with it, is an issue that resonates with many. Although they do provide a recap of the events of the first four issues, readers should check them out anyway as they are a terrific story arc in themselves. Spencer and Locke 2 will be a title that readers should keep their eyes out for. |

Spencer & Locke 2 #3
Jun 30, 2019 |
The creative team has delivered yet another heart-pounding issue that leaves the reader with a cliffhanger ending. Pepose gave some more exposition on characters that hadn't been explored in depth before. Locke's daughter Hero is sure to surprise, and will probably have her story examined in further detail at some point. Hopefully, she can avoid the same mistakes of her father's past and not become a product of her surroundings. The first series only had four issues, and if the next installment is the last, it will no doubt reach a bloody and explosive climax. |

This isnt a book that you can plow right through, you need to take your time with it. The topics discussed in this issue, and more than likely this series, need to be discussed in the open without shame or embarrassment, and hopefully this series can do that while telling the tale of this tragic, yet exciting new character. |

What will be interesting is to see what new developments he can make with her character in 12 issues. Mahn brings an interesting style to the table, with soft and vulnerable characters designs mixing with harsh and stoic. Issue thirteen is an important issue, as its the beginning of a new story arc. It gives Carter some much-needed rest, but still delivers the violence of his past with the introduction of yet more past lives. The creative team needs to be careful, however, as they just finished a big story arc with many enchanting past lives. They could easily find themselves with a stale story if they dont focus more on Carter alone and his archaeology/treasure hunting rather than the countless past lives. |

Batman: Kings of Fear #1
Oct 11, 2018 |
This was a very surprising first issue for a miniseries that was hyped up with the return of Kelley Jones. 2018 is seeing a Batman title that looks and reads like it was straight out of the 90s. While there are a few shining moments throughout this first issue, overall, it was a big let down. It will be interesting to see if the creative team can recover from this weak first outing and deliver something memorable. Most trips down Nostalgia Lane are pleasant; this one, however, wasnt. |
