A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong #1
Mar 3, 2016 |
In true Valiant style, A&A is yet another comic that rides the line between respecting and building on the rich history of the characters involved, and keeping the story accessible to new readers picking these characters up for the first time. |

One of my favorite things about comics with New stories is that anything can happen, and that's the feeling I get from this book. Lemire is not required to fit this story into any particular continuity, so it feels like the beginning of an exciting ride that could go any number of unexpected places. I don't know about you, but I'll be strapping in and waiting in white-knuckled anticipation. |

Bloodshot: Reborn #9
Dec 20, 2015 |
If you've been reading this title, congrats on making a great choice. If not, I recommend you go pick up the trade for Colorado, grab the issues of The Hunt and catch up, then strap in for an insane ride as issue 10 begins a look at Bloodshot in a dystopian wasteland decades into the future with The Analog Man, then after that arc Jeff Lemire and Mico Suayan will finally let us in on the secret of what Bloodshot Island is all about. |

Bloodshot: Reborn #10
Jan 24, 2016 |
What's great about this book is that it's got a lot to offer longtime fans of the character, but it's also such a fresh take that new readers could easily pick it up and feel just as comfortable understanding what's going on. I cannot recommend this title enough. I think it'd be a great idea to read the previous two Bloodshot Reborn arcs, but not at all necessary to understand and enjoy this story, so don't be afraid to jump right in! |

Bloodshot: Reborn #11
Feb 21, 2016 |
As you may already know, this story is set 30 years in the future. Because of this, any reader can jump into this story with any level of knowledge about the characters and get a masterfully told story that both stands on its own as well as builds from, and on, all the history of each character involved. If you haven't yet, now is the time to get into the Valiant universe as the quality of their books continues to rise, positioning them as one of the best, or in my opinion THE best publisher in the comic industry today. If that seems like a bold statement, pick up this book and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed. |

Bloodshot: Reborn #12
Apr 18, 2016 |
Anyone who knows me while will likely know that Bloodshot has been my personal favorite comic character for about a year now, but I want to assure you that my positive feelings for this book aren't just a reflection of my bias for the character. This comic is truly a work of art, and my only complaint is that this arc will be over in only one more month. Do yourself a favor and either pick up the issues of this story, Bloodshot Reborn 10-13, or at least buy the trade when it comes out. |

I follow quite a few comics month to month, but this issue proves once again why Bloodshot Reborn is always at the top of my list of most anticipated books. If you've never read a Bloodshot comic, I implore you to pick this one up and find out what you've been missing. |

Divinity II #1

Overall I think this was a decent first issue, just a bit of a slow one. However, based on the explosive success of the first Divinity story and Matt Kindt's superior storytelling, I think this will end up being another great book. |

It seems I've been talking about how much the different aspects of this issue took a middle of the road approach, but don't take that to mean that the quality of this comic is just middle of the road. Riding the line between too much detail and leaving too much to the imagination can be like walking a tightrope for writers and artists, and it's not easy. This is why I felt like this was a very well crafted issue, and why I can't wait to see where this team goes with the rest of the series. |

Ninjak (2015) #11
Jan 12, 2016 |
Ninjak is, to my knowledge, the only Valiant book offering its readers 30 pages every month, but it still sits at the same $3.99 price point, ensuring readers always get their money's worth with this title. Add to that extra space the quality of storytelling in these pages, and you get a book easily worth adding to your pull list. |

Ninjak (2015) #12
Feb 9, 2016 |
Ninjak is a book with a lot to offer, and Kindt and company are using Operation Deadside to prove that they can capitalize on every ounce of that potential. This is a fun story as single issues, and I feel it'll be even better when collected as a trade. Definitely pick this up the next time you visit your local comic shop! |

While I was happy this story fit my expectations of a good Ninjak story, the most important thing to me is not how closely my expectations were met, but how entertained I was; what I was feeling as I read and when I got done reading. Let me tell you, this issue got me really excited. I absolutely cannot wait for more. |

Overall, this is a great setup for these characters and this story. Long-time Valiant fans will find a lot to love in these pages, and new readers will be able to easily jump on-board without needing to do a bunch of research to understand what's happening. The art is strong and clean and the writing is clear and compelling. This is an issue I would recommend to any comic reader, Valiant fan or not. |

Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #2
Dec 15, 2015 |
The more I read of Robert Venditti's work with Valiant comics the more I notice how he plants seeds of stories at the beginning of a run and then allows them to naturally develop as the story moves forward so that future events never feel forced. This has been made very apparent with his run on X-O Manowar, but I can see some of the seeds he's planting now in the early issues of this run and it makes me even more excited to follow this title and see where the ride takes us. |

Jan 20, 2016 |
This may not have been my favorite issue of this title so far, but it still shows a lot of promise not only for the rest of this arc, but also the possibilities that lie ahead further down the line for this title. If his work on X-O Manowar is any indication, Robert Venditti likely has a huge plan for this run that he's already been hinting at and we won't even realize it until we're 4 or 5 arcs in, and I absolutely cannot wait to get to that point and beyond! |

X-O Manowar (2012) #44
Feb 3, 2016 |
As I mentioned, Venditti has been expertly trying every issue into every previous issue in this series, but he's impressively kept every arc open and totally accessible to new readers who might be picking the title up for the first time. Whether you know the character or not, I recommend reading this story. |
