Fairest #11 |
Jan 10, 2013 |
This story arc is completely original, and for the cover price of $2.99, it's definitelyone of the fairest (I knew you'd appreciate that pun) titles in terms of value for your buck. InakiMiranda's artwork continues to be absolutely riveting"each panel is loaded with detail"makingthis particular issue freakishly haunting. I have goosebumps just thinking about it"or is that from theChristmas edition catalog? Either way, do yourself a favor and grab this title! |

Five Ghosts #1 |
Mar 19, 2013 |
Five Ghosts is one good looking pulp adventure comic, on a par with Franceso Francavilla's The Black Beetle. For those of us that missed out on the Kickstarter, Image Comics have made Five Ghosts available to the masses, something which, as readers, we should be grateful for. This is great storytelling and Barbiere weaves plot strands which will bear delicious fruit. There's also an incredibly well designed and realised pentagram towards the back of the issue. |

Great Pacific #3 |

Great Pacific is a solid, quick read"it may not be among my top ten titles out right now, but it's definitely on the brink of cracking the list. |

Punisher: Nightmare #1 |
Jan 3, 2013 |
Gimple has done a decent job setting the stage for what can be an entertaining series with a twist of a cliffhanger, but the story's premises isn't new: Castle hunts mobsters, teams up with bitter parent, delivers massive beatdown, etc., etc. Texeira's artwork is the strength of this book: his colors are dark and gritty"perfect for a story about revenge. Although not a new concept for Castle, it's still a series worth following as of now. |

Thunderbolts (2012) #3 |
Jan 10, 2013 |
Way and Dillon wrap up the issue with an interesting cliffhanger by means of a dramatic splash page.Although this issue is a step up from the title's prior two, it still lacks development in regards to thevillains. We still know very little about the dictator and his motives. Also, it would be nice to seeElektra get a little more page time. |

Wolverine and the X-Men #23 |
Jan 13, 2013 |
Overall, this storyline isn't the most entertaining, but issue #23 displays the best this arc has yet to offer. Props to Aaron for bringing Wolverine and the X-Men back to where the characters shine. |

Punisher: Nightmare #2 |
Jan 10, 2013 |
This is a series that shifts its focus away from the headlining character, and for four bucks, I'd hope to see more time dedicated to the man with the skull on his shirt. |
