Devil's Reign: X-Men #2 is an intriguing middle chapter that pulls back the curtain on a hidden, darker side of our favorite heroes' and villains' histories. Supported by Phil Noto's excellent art, Gerry Duggan provides a throw-back adventure that doubles as a character study for Emma Frost, expanding and redefining her role in the Marvel universe.

The latest chapter of Kurt Busieks ensemble adventure steps away from the perspective of its super-powered protagonists to explore the history of the enigmatic Siancong conflict. Busiek and artist Yildiray Cinar combine their efforts to tell a story which spans across years of Marvel history, combining geopolitical conflicts with an impressive knowledge of comic continuity in a tasteful fashion.

Al Ewing takes the character of Eddie Brock on a time-traveling, science fiction adventure that is sure to satisfy any fan's desire for action, while also presenting unique possibilities regarding Venom's fate and his potential effect on the future of the entire Marvel universe.

Al Ewing continues to expand the lore behind the symbiote species in impressive, unexpected ways. The stakes of Eddie Brock's journey have become far more personal, and the comic's main threat grows more intimidating as a result.

Carnage #3 adds an additional layer of complexity to detective Johnathan Shayde's hunt for the blood-thirsty Carnage, as well as a captivating element of psychological horror. Ram V plants the seeds for an intense battle of wills, while leaving the future vague enough to keep you guessing what will happen next.

Carnage #4 takes its narrative beyond the boundaries of Earth, introducing new characters, more fantastical elements, and some ominous new threats could be potentially dangerous for the entire Marvel multiverse.

Avengers 1,000,000 BC provides some of the interpersonal drama and conflict that the current Avengers ongoing has been desperately needing, but does not devote enough time to expanding upon character relationships in any meaningful way. And it certainly does not succeed in making Thor's birth feel like a monumental event.

Spider-Woman #21 wraps up the series with an action-packed and incredibly humorous issue that will satisfy those looking for epic super-powered beatdowns. For those hoping for a more impactful and satisfying conclusion to the latest adventures of Jessica Drew, you may be disappointed.

Similar to it's preceding issues, Avengers #57 stumbles in the delivery of what would otherwise be very interesting ideas. In the process, it deprives fans of the type of super heroics and team dynamics that they have to come to expect from an ensemble comic.

Avengers #58 may win fans over with the introduction of an epic new character, but it's narrative continues to move at a snail's pace, making it difficult to remain invested.

Impatient pacing and shallow characters make this issue of Avengers a rather unsatisfying wild west adventure.
