Overall, Blood and Gourd is an essential pick-up if youre a blood buff. It makes for perfect Halloween season reading, but even in February, its still an absolute riot.

The Dregs is a brilliant read, with powerful subtext the beating heart of a horror mystery that's not for the faint of heart. It's perhaps a little too dark for some taste buds, but if you can appreciate an intelligent tale of cannibalism then I suggest picking it up.

In summary, WWE #1 is well worth a read if youre a wrestling fan or even mildly intrigued by its shenanigans. And its much better than Monday Night Raw, so youd be better off just reading this as opposed to watching three hours of that every week.

Overall, Predator vs Judge Dredd vs Alien is a series you should be reading. It isnt pretentious for one second, understanding that the only way to make a story like this work is make it its own thing completely. That said, Layman and Mooneyhamclearly respect each franchise and honours their rules accordingly, while injecting their own warped vision to create something truly magnificent. Like the mad scientists weird hybrids, this is some unnatural brilliance.

Lowell Dean created a fantastic character with WolfCop when he unleashed the movie a couple of years ago. Now Max Marks has taken what made the character so special in the first place and expanded the story in a fresh, fun way which feels like a natural continuation and something brand new entirely. Overall, WolfCop #1 is perfect.

Evil Dead 2: Dark Ones Rising # is a great start to the story arc, and a continuation to the previous Evil Dead 2 comic instalments that's both natural and bigger.

Samurai: Brothers In Arms is a series which continues to go from strength to strength. This is the type of adventure that you genuinely feel like you're a part of, going through every emotion with the characters.

Overall, Chimichanga: The Sorrow of the Worlds Worst Face is highly recommended and an alternative from all the cool, dark violent comics we all love. Its innocent entertainment that will at least put a smile on your face if you still see the good in humanity.

Hard Case Crime's Peepland #1 from Christa Faust, Gary Phillips and Andrea Camerini is a neon-drenched, grimy gem.

Speak No Evil #1 is fun Lovecraftian horror which is off to a very promising start.

Triggerman is off to a great start. So far it doesn't offer much in the way of action or explanation, but it excels in terms of mood and paving the way for what's to come. It has an old school flavour of vintage crime tales where men were hard and women were the charm and sophistication, like Bonnie and Clyde. Triggerman has brains, brawn, beauty and grit, and if you're a fan of the hardboiled type of storytelling you'll have a blast with this.

Overall, Surgeon-X is off to a cracking start and I highly recommend it, especially if youre a fan of stories like V for Vendetta, which this is reminiscent of with its dystopian British setting, on-point and exploration of ideologies. Its politics might not sit well with some, but its still an engaging read, and even if you do disagree with some aspects of it, it might still give you some thoughts to ponder over.

Vikings Uprising #1 will please fans of the show who can't wait for its return, as well as newbies looking for a brutal historical saga.

The Black Sun will not disappoint fans of the character, and it continues to present him in fresh, exciting ways. After all these years, Hellboy is still a character who feels relevant and invigorated, and thats all down to being involved in storytelling that never ceases to be extraordinary. Stories like The Black Sun.

In short, Deathstroke #2 is good. Really freaking good.

This is a brilliant start to the new series. Brothers in Arms comes out swinging with its first issue and it's left my anticipation levels for the next instalment through the roof. I cannot recommend these comics enough, but if you're new to them then I can't think of a better one to start off with. Highly recommended.

Overall, this is fun and wacky stuff. But it touches on serious topical issues in a way thats light, but still thought provoking. This was much better than I ever could have imagined; I might be a lukewarm casual when it comes to the cartoon, but Russells and Pughs latest comic incarnation has my attention.

Surprisingly, The Living Finger doesnt feel like its going to be schlock horror for the sake of it. The premise is a wonderful set-up for murderous hilarity, but the first issue establishes a tragically funny human reasoning for the inevitable supernatural mayhem. Theres a genuine heart and charm permeating throughout that makes me think this series is going to be a winner. Highly recommended.

Overall, this is shaping up to be a series I cannot recommend enough. With issue number two it has gathered speed and established characters, while weaving a perfect balance of emotion, story and adventure with spellbinding results. Go buy it. Now.

Sons of the Devil intrinsically weaves horror, mystery, drama and strong characterisation to great effect, and if youre a horror aficionado then its everything you could possibly want from genre fare intelligence, intrigue, and the fear of the unknown manifesting itself in a way thats believable, despite its supernatural leanings.

Not only is this the best opening issue to a series in 2016, its one of the best first issues Ive read in my entire life. Period. 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank is a must read for anyone whos ever been a kid. If you only buy one comic book this week this month, even then make sure its this one. You will not regret it.

Overall, this is yet another winner from this fantastic duo and an essential read for fans of crime fiction. It looks set to the best one in quite some time.

The Mighty Zodiac is off to a great start and it seems like it could be a potential classic in the making.

All in all, Godzilla: Oblivion is off to a promising start. By no means does it suggest great things as of yet, but theres enough good stuff to be found here to hopefully make you want to pick up the next issue. Joshua Fialkov could be on to something with this story that has the potential to do something interesting with Godzilla lore.

Give this one a miss unless youre a fan of the movie or uninspired formulaic dreck. Its about as lifeless as a morgue. However, if will pass the time on a rainy day, long train journey or bout of constipation.

Once again, the series hits yet another high point without giving too much away. The next issue cannot come soon enough. Sons of the Devil is the unsung horror series of the moment, but its much more than that, as it works just as well as a character drama. On every level, this is delivering in abundance and you owe it to yourself to revel in its terror.

Overall, Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs is passable entertainment that serves as a natural successor to the cartoon in many ways, but it isn't noteworthy enough to recommend unless you're a fan already. By all means check it out if you need something to occupy your mind on a train journey or a five-minute visit to the toilet, but there's no reason to go out of your way to read it. Although, if you do, it will neither disappoint nor enthral.

Overall, Mars Attacks: Occupation is off to a great start. Sci-fi comics have a tendency to push the envelope on a regular basis, but sometimes you need a throwback like this that reminds you why you fell in love with the genre in the first place. It's been awhile since we had an old school alien invasion story, and this one delivers on all fronts.

This doesnt do anything to answer our many questions. In fact, when its all said and done youll find yourself with even more. But this series is heading in an intriguing and very exciting direction, and the future looks promising for our favourite occult detective.

Overall, Wynonna Earp is off to a solid start and accomplishes a few feats. As preparation for a television series to get viewers excited, it does the job. As a comic book series with a potential future, it lays the groundwork to expand upon. Fans will be pleased to have Wynonna back, and newcomers have a perfecting starting point to get acquainted with her. All in all, a generic but most enjoyable success.

Hopefully the next issue can return the series to prominence and this can be chalked up to a bad day at the office. There has simply been too much brilliance in the Wolf saga to completely dismiss it, and its warranted itself a few more chances before I give up on it completely. Unfortunately, this issue just wasnt for me, and Ive been nothing but admiring of Wolf up until now. Take that for what its worth.

Overall, this is another great entry into this brilliant ongoing series. The way its going it would seem like a hopeless cause for Jack, with no chance for redemption. The beauty of the series is seeing a character with seemingly no way back, and this is the type of nihilistic storytelling more comics should strive to accomplish. However, considering the subject matter, this is clearly the best route to go with it. Underneath the Faustian elements is a thought provoking, important and intelligent piece of work with a message. Even if you dont agree with it, it more than gets its point across with style.

Overall, this is a brilliant start to the new run and I cant wait to see where it goes from here. Its laid the foundations for an excellent detective story to be built on, while introducing some extra conflicted facets to Shafts character that hints at something much deeper than initially meets the eye.

There are some great ideas in Symmetry, and it's on course to becoming an enjoyable Utopian sci-fi fare. It flips the script in some ways to standout from other stories of a similar ilk, so if you're a fan of this genre I highly recommend it. If not, I doubt this will change your mind.

This is the Wolf in an unexpected progression for the series, but its heading places I want to go with it.

As a mystery, its very engaging and theres no telling where it will go from here. All the pieces are in place to build on hell of a puzzle, but at the moment all we know is what were given which isn't a lot, so dont expect answers quite yet. Overall, I suggest picking this up, but do so at your own risk as the story is very unconventional and non-linear; amnesiac even.

Overall, Citizen Jack remains a must read series as we head further into 2016, and I cant wait to see where it goes from here. The tonal shift wasnt as smooth as it could have been, but its still impressive stuff nonetheless, and the best political satire going at the moment.

JOE GOLEM continues to be everything you could possibly want it to be. Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden are a heck of a team, and Patric Reynolds continues to compliment them perfectly by bringing unique worlds to life stunningly with his art. All in all, this series is an absolutely essential purchase.

It might not be the Bond everyone knows and loves; in fact, his actions are more reminiscent of John McClane, but the character traits of 007 are still there to remind us of just who he is. For me, this was a very pleasant surprise. Ellis has created a Bond character that will appeal to fans and non-fans alike, and also created a slick, action-packed action thriller you dont want to miss out on if you like your comics bloody entertaining.

Overall, this is worth a read if youre looking for some light fluff. The series is off to a solid enough start to keep me interested, and while its not spectacular just yet, it might be in future. Definitely worth a read, although not essential unless youre already a fan.

The Violent is off to an impressive start, but its a depressing experience. However, if youre the type of person who likes to watch Ken Loach films, youll probably appreciate it. Reading it could potentially ruin your day, but its an important and emotionally charged story that deserves to be told.

Ive never read a Faustian tale this funny in my entire life. It also happens to be one of the best political satires in a long, long time. This is a very impressive start and I cant wait to read the next issue. Highly recommended.
