Abe Sapien (2013) #5
Aug 13, 2013 |
I really enjoy this comic month after month and actually dig it more than the exploits of Mignola's other more famous character in Hellboy In Hell. The writing gets you right into Abe's head, you feel his emotions, his fear, his sadness that his brother Hellboy has not returned while these monsters surface all over the planet, and his pity for the human race. The artwork by Max Fiumara and Dave Stewart is pretty amazing in that it looks totally original and is beautifully colored but you can tell it is set in Mignola's world. It's almost like someone turned on the lights in some of Mignola's art for Hellboy, setting a different tone for Abe's series. I would definitely recommend this book, but because I was a bit confused by the deep sea diver and the cocoon panels I gotta give Abe Sapien a solid" |

Abe Sapien (2013) #6
Oct 10, 2013 |
The art is spectacular, Sebastian Fiumara and Dave Stewart brighten up and detail Abe's world like we haven't seen in the B.P.R.D. Universe before. The shadows and shapes of Mignola's art are gone, replaced with daytime desert scenes and detailed features. The cover art by Max Fiumara, brother of artist Sebastian, invokes the feeling of old pulp-horror comics…right up my alley! As I said earlier Abe Sapien may not be for everyone, but as a fan of horror indies and Mignola's Hellboy Universe in general, it is becoming a personal favorite of mine. It is for these reasons that I am fully authorized by the B.P.R.D. to give Abe Sapien #6 – The Shape Of Things To Come part 1 a solid… |

I gotta say this book is certainly original and Niles and Harris put story and art together so flawlessly that it definitely leaves you wanting more. If you're a fan of dark, gritty detective noir or supernatural stories or both, then this book is for you. I give Chin Music a very solid rating of… |

Conan And The People of The Black Circle #1

I really tried to analyze this book. I tried to find something to critique"any negatives whatsoever, to no avail. Maybe it's my bias for anything Conan? Nah, that's not it, I've read some poorly executed Conan comics. Maybe it's that I don't do many reviews and usually it's something I love from the start? That could be, but I think it's something else. I think that it's the fact that Dark Horse Comics has just got it right! Bottom line, Dark Horse has hired the best Conan writers and artists and has partnered with the Howard Estate to bring fans of Conan a quality series of projects and I couldn't be happier. |

Conan And The People of The Black Circle #3
Dec 14, 2013 |
Dark Horse Comics deserve some praise here for putting the teams together for both this series and their other Howard Estate licensed book, King Conan: The Hour of the Dragon. Both series are in my top picks of 2013 and I really hope they keep these adaptations coming. With incredible artists and great writers Dark Horse and the Robert E. Howard Estate have a dedicated reader in this FTN reviewer! I cannot give Conan and the People of the Black Circle issue three, anything less than a perfect" |

Conan And The People of The Black Circle #4

The art by Ariel Olivetti is some of the most mind blowing panel work you will ever see and Fred Van Lente's adaptation of this classic Howard material is as good as it gets! I highly recommend this to fans of Conan, the sword and sorcery genre and to fans of fantasy artwork. I can't say enough good things about what Dark Horse and the Robert E. Howard Estate are doing with the first 2 of hopefully many Conan adaptations. Here's hoping for more in the future! - See more at: http://www.followingthenerd.com/comics/comic-review-ftn-reviews-conan-and-the-people-of-the-black-circle-4/#sthash.eWqc2kZr.dpuf |

Hellboy in Hell #5
Dec 7, 2013 |
When Hellboy in Hell premiered I wasn't sure if I liked it all that much. The initial first issue was fine. I didn't really have any complaints but I felt it just needed more. The next three issues picked up a bit and then the book was gone! I honestly wasn't sure if the book was even coming back because it had been so long between issues but I am glad it did. Something just seemed to click in my mind with issue five that kind of made me step back and think "Ahhh"I get where this is going and I love it!" |

Journey Into Mystery (2011) #654
Jul 25, 2013 |
I can never say enough about how much I have enjoyed Journey Into Mystery this last year or so. Immonen is at the top of her game and Valerio Schiti's art is perfect! With Jordie Bellaire's coloring and Virtual Calligraphy's Clayton Cowles on lettering, which I might add is beautiful and totally works with the art and story, Journey Into Mystery just may be the perfect comic book and once again gets my highest possible recommendation. |

Will Conan make his way out? Is Zenobia playing both sides? Or is she some part of Tarascus' twisted plans? Do yourself a favor and pick up King Conan: The Hour Of The Dragon part 3 and find out! In my opinion King Conan is THE best Conan comic ever made and one of the best comic series in general that I have read in a long time. That's why I am giving it my highest possible recommendation and my highest possible score. |

King Conan: Hour of the Dragon #4
Aug 28, 2013 |
I think I have said just about everything I can say about how great this book is. I am still in awe of just how “CONAN” it is. The team putting this book together are continuing to surprise and amaze me, and with just two issues left in this half of the series it will be sorely missed until the second half which will be titled, King Conan: The Conqueror in 2014. No surprises from me when I give this book" |

I really enjoyed this first issue. I went into it not really knowing what to expect and wasn't disappointed.
