Abdul Alhazred is an Arab-American folklore professor-turned-soldier whose fear of death stems from uncertainty about the existence of an afterlife. Then he joins THE GODKILLERS, a special forces unit tasked with ?ghting insurgents who use mythological creatures as weapons of mass destruction. Now that he knows that the supernatural exists, he'll have to decide which is worse - death or the nightmarish monsters he thought were mere legends. From writer Mark Sable (Grounded, Fearless, Supergirl) and newcomer artist Maan House, THE GODKILLERS is a monster story for the modern age.

I say Godkillers does a bit of a pendulum swing, and thats very true considering the utterly redeeming build up and end splash. It might sound like Im being overly down on a detail that could be put aside, but thats definitely not the intent. In God Killers #1 I saw several elements that were similar to several other franchises such as : Tom Doyle's American Craft series, which includes Legacy and The Left-Hand Way; Myke Cole's, Shadow Ops;The anime/manga series Fullmetal Alchemist; Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka. So even though it is out to a great start, God Killers will a little bit more to separate itself from this increasingly crowded genre. Read Full Review

This book has tremendous promise. Between an exciting premise, a solid back half, and a talented art team, Im thinking we have something to look forward to in the issues to come. But this debut stumbles and catches itself a bit late in the game. Read Full Review

There are some ink-drenched panels of violence that offer some impact, but without characters or a clear concept to deliver momentum there's not a strong hook to continue reading after finishing Godkillers #1. Read Full Review
