This is a perfect WWE comic and a perfect wrestling comic. I would go so far as to recommend this to people beyond wrestling fandom as it is a solid comic in its own right. Overall then, while the undercard is a little inconsistent at times, Hopeless and Moras main event delivers in spades, providing an intriguing and impressively illustrated look at one of the most shocking moments in recent WWE history. And, while the prospect of a WWE comic book may have even diehard wrestling fans rolling their eyes and looking elsewhere, the clear affection that the creators have for the subject matter and the impressively earnest execution, in the main story at least make this a truly worthwhile purchase. WWE Then. Now. Forever. #1 is a decent beginning to the huge wrestling conglomerate that is the WWE but mainly for its backup stories. The following issues will need to kick it up a notch and seriously update their main story in order to compete with the other comic book titles coming out these days and not to become another failed McMahon attempt at branching out. At the end of the day, if you're new to the world of professional wres… uh I mean sports entertainment, then this will help you understand the way it is both in and out of the ring with how the characters are. But for the devout fans who have lived through the 90s, the attitude era and the monday night wars to the current PG era, this may or may not hold your attention long enough to get to further issues later on.
