Front Towards Gamer - Lido Feb 3, 2014

From the way Baltimore: Chapel of Bones ends, it's obvious this isn't meant to be the final Lord Baltimore story, but more the end of a cycle of stories in which he hunts for Haigus and, as a capstone to that era for the character, Baltimore: Chapel of Bones is excellent. The 2-parter as a whole is very good with great callbacks and extraordinary atmosphere, while doing a lot to advance the character and ground us in what's to come next. The action is awesome and glorious to behold, the reveals are shocking and intriguing, the set-up makes you desperate to see more, and the artwork is deeply chilling and perfectly complementary to the tale; definitely recommended. Multiversity Comics - Mark Tweedale Feb 5, 2014

This issue progresses from fiery oranges to cold blue-greys and rich reds, finally ending with the sequence downstairs in dingy greys and faded browns. Dave Stewart's colours felt like the mood of the book, which is no small piece of praise. He got me right back to the feelings I had when I first read the novel. Read Full Review

Comic Bastards - Carl Boehm Feb 5, 2014

Stenbeck's art does a brilliant job capturing the blood and gore. Additionally, his work with shadows and darkness provides the ideal backdrop for a hero like Baltimore and his tale. Mignola and Golden end the "Chapel of Bones" chapter with a brilliantly visual and cinematic climax that trumps all the other Vampire hunters and their tales. Read Full Review

    All-Comic - Joey Caswell Feb 5, 2014

Baltimore has been a wild ride, but things are clearly not over yet. The latest installment was perhaps the best issue in the series so far or at least among the very best. There was a ton of depth and the whole book was suitably epic. There are a couple of developments in this issue that were unexpected even for a series like this, and things are only going to get more wild in the future. If youve ever read any Baltimore, do yourself a favor and check out Chapel of Bones. This was a perfect close to this chapter in the saga of Lord Baltimore, but certainly not the last! Bloody Disgusting - GreenBasterd Feb 7, 2014

Ben Stenbeck working in tandem with Dave Stewart gives this book the extra oomf it needs, with so much action going on it's the little details that for me are the most appealing. In many of the panels there are surging flames or skeletons transforming into dust but even the simplest put of dust is penciled into the illustration. I've been praising Dave Stewart for years and this book is just one of the many testaments to his skills as he puts panels with powerful colours next to ones with dark ones and shadows. While the book feels familiar, the problem with it is that I just dont care. I couldnt say that after two books I would pick this up again. It wasnt bad, but it doesnt compel me to continue reading it. Read Full Review

As much as i love Mignola titles, and this series in particular i have mixed feelings about this issue. I enjoyed it overall but it rushes in the beginning and drags in the end. I was hoping for an epic battle, after all these years of build up, but this arc was more about setting up Henry's pals and a new 'big bad'. So while I'm glad to see Baltimore will continue, this arc is anti-climactic. Also, there are some problems, like hand switching and the page with the heart. Not really up to their standard quality, but I'm in for the next arc anyways.
