Canary #1 provides everything you want in a horror comic. The creative team delivers a lived-in setting without a need for excessive exposition. The characters are captivating, even those that appear briefly. The horror elements are on a very slow burn, creating a great deal of tension, and the disturbing elements promise yet more. It will be hard for the rest of the series to live up to the first issues standards. But for now this is a must buy, especially for horror fans. Read Full Review

I thoroughly enjoyed this issue. It has a good premise and did a great job of setting everything up.
The cover didn't help the sales of this book as you can't tell what it's about. Plus the name had me thinking it was about Black Canary when I saw it on the list. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I love Westerns and wrote/produced a Supernatural Wester with Eric Roberts. So, this was right up my alley.
The character interaction is great, and I'm like the story/mystery. Looking forward to the next issue.

Great opening issue. The setting and tone are immediately in place and the chapters flow well.
I usually shy away from comics from Scott synder, but against my better judgement I picked it up. It was okay. Very long-winded. A lot of nonsense that felt like it went nowhere. I'll pass.
