A beautiful finale to one of the best new comics of 2024.
Plot
Thomas Roger wrote a book about the tragic life of C.K Cole, based on the interview he did with Lilith Appleton, the housekeeper who took care of Helen when her father committed suicide, everything is narrated by Lilith. This never-published book is finished reading by a comics fan who bought it at a convention.
Helen tells Lilith how her grandfather Barnabas Cole shows her her true origin, in a castle in the depths of a magical sea. In this place Helen learns her origin.
The story has an ambiguous ending that leaves many doubts where the reader can finish imagining how the story ends. It is an ending of reconciliation and acceptance.
This story closes with a deep message about grief, forgiveness a more
tom king often leaves questions unanswered, which makes the writing feel dull. I may be wrong, because I thought we would get the answer to who CK was and why he hung himself. The only saving thing is the art.
