Just as he finishes up one job in Greece, Hellboy is detoured into another adventure by . . . a goat? Join Hellboy in a strange hidden land of treachery and togas as he takes on the wrath of a jealous god.
Featuring the storytelling genius of Mike Mignola and Olivier Vatine, with art by Vatine and letters by Clem Robins, the Mignolaverse meets classical mythology in this new one-shot!
Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Night of the Cyclops is one of the best new stories featuring the character in some time, channeling the best aspects of early Mignola work and adding a new flair to the franchise that makes it unique and memorable. Read Full Review
Vatine delivers some awesome visual moments throughout. There are some beautifully detailed moments like Hellboys descent and some great action beats like the cyclops battle. A wonderful looking issue from start to finish. Read Full Review
If you love mythology then this is a fun comic to grab. It combines two of my favourite things classic mythology and modern mythology (specifically the Mignolaverse). A great bit of fun, easy to just pick up and read with no need for any prior reading or even any particular knowledge of Hellboy you can enjoy this one on it's own terms (it is extra enjoyable if you have some knowledge of mythology though). I hope when this story is collected, it comes with a hefty sketchbook section, just so I can spend a little more time in lith's world as drawn by Olivier Vatine. Read Full Review
I really enjoyed this particular title. Its not Hellboy at its peak, but it is a fun adventure, the artwork is great, and, well, its Hellboy! Read Full Review
Hellboy and the B.P.R.D: Night of the Cyclops is a simple single-issue story that comic sellers seem all too reluctant to print these days. While it doesn't offer much in the way of action (although it does deliver on the title with Hellboy fighting a Cyclops), and Hellboy technically isn't even the one to stop Aphrodite, it's a fun tale featuring some interesting art by Olivier Vatine and yet another unusual situation our hero has found himself in. Hellboy behaves as Hellboy should. He's stoic, willing to help out the little guy, with just a hint of being a smartass. In this case, it helps that the little guy is the literal most gorgeous woman in the world, but Hellboy's gone out of his way to help people far less attractive, and in the case of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Night of the Cyclops, he behaves no differently here. In an almost throwaway moment, Hellboy rejects a crown, even if it was a crown of leaves. Doomed, against gods, and new to the party, Hellboy puts himself in harm's way and tries to do the right thing. Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Night of the Cyclops is a pleasure to read. Read Full Review
