I really enjoy this book and this issue continues with the hilariously over the top version of Batman that Miller has been writing since issue one. However, if you still can't stand this version of Batman, this issue won't change your opinion on this book. Otherwise, it's a great read. Read Full Review

I couldn't help but notice that the issue's credits give "special thanks to Brian Azzarello", and I wonder how much of a hand he had in the book (could he have ghostwritten parts of the issue?). However it came about, though, this issue of All-Star Batman is a marked improvement on recent chapters which remains more focused on the story at hand than before, and I'm surprised to find myself eager to see how the book continues. All Star Batman and Robin #8 was a better than average read. I did find this issue to be Miller's weakest issue up to this point. Having said that, I think that we are in store for an entertaining ride now that Joker and Catwoman have been brought into the mix. I would certainly recommend giving All Star Batman a try if you dig Miller's hard boiled style of writing. This title is not for everyone and Miller certainly is an acquired taste. All Star Batman definitely offers the reader a much different take on Batman's character than what you get served up over on Batman and Detective Comics. And variety is always appreciated. The opening Joker scene is sufficiently chilling and his narration boxes work well in establishing the villain. Sadly (for us) his involvement in this issue is minimal. Jim Lee's pencils are as solid as ever, but even those are not enough to rocket this issue out of the depths of boredom. I've officially joined the legions of Batman fans out there who question why this series even exists when it's clearly doing the character no favors. You can't say that about many stories. All-Star Batman & Robin is proving it serves no purpose other than for Frank Miller to dump on the DC Universe. Read Full Review
