Batgirl #12 might have been more set up and less action-focused than previous issues, but it was as compelling as ever. Cass is going through it mentally, and this issue perfectly showcased why she's laser-focused on her mission: avenging Shiva's death. Batgirls greatest strength is the psychological journey Cass is on. No matter what the story is in any given issue, Brombal keeps Casss emotions front and center. The result is that Batgirl #12 avoids the trap of many transition issues and doesnt get bogged down in exposition. I am still eager for this Unburied arc to end, because it really isn't compelling, but Batgirl #12 was a good issue for Cass' development and to take inventory on how she's been dealing with all these revelations and adventures. The cover to the issue has exactly nothing to do with the story, except that we are back on track for Cass being the star of the book. Read Full Review
