The This issue might not be the most... let's say, "involved," issue in the story telling department, but god damn if I don't care. From the start, I've loved the whole vibe this Batwoman Wonder Woman vs the Gods arc has given us. It's big, beautiful, and epic, despite how much I hate to use that word. There are a ton of fantastic comics being made by an army of creators today. For my money, though, you can't find a better product than when Williams, Blackman, and their talented colorist, Dave Stewart, are firing on all cylinders. Batwoman #16 does leave a bit to be desired in terms of bringing the current Medusa story to a close, but everything else will slate your thirst. The writing is fantastic, the art is breathtaking, and together they form one of the most unique comic reading experiences ever. Batwoman is one of the biggest reasons to buy comics at all, with it being an overall feast for the eyes. But one of the best things going in the medium is hampered a bit by the digital format. By all accounts, this is the best drawn book of the year. It's amazing. I completely understand why Williams took a break with last issue so that he could pencil these beautiful splash pages. If you've never read Batwoman, you won't understand. It's simply amazing. Colorful, detailed, dark, other-worldly, with characters who clearly stand out. Williams draws amazing versions of Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Medusa. It's a stunningly drawn book. But I just don't love the montage of narrations as much as I would have loved a more real-time story. I realize the scope of the battle is huge, but I think they could have done a lot better focusing more on the moments themselves than what was happening in the characters' heads. It slowed everything down at a time when I wanted the story to speed up and kick ass. Thankfully, we have one more issue to go in this story! And I'm more excited than ever! Read Full Review

As an art book "Batwoman" #16 is five-stars, easily; as a comic book, I can only see giving it three and a half stars. I wish it could be more, truly, as the jaw-dropping art and care that clearly went into that aspect of the book is something I want to reward, but the book is overwhelmed by too much narration and too many narrators. Despite the defining character dialogue, Williams and Haden Blackman's story is too dense. It lacks forward momentum and the bit of exposition that we do get feels forced. Batwoman #16 is not a gratifying read as a single issue. Still, visually " it is a hell of a comic. Read Full Review
