Green Lantern Annual#4 is an entertaining book, but its plot seems hesitant to offer real developments outside of the main run of issues. Luckily, the character work, both in the artwork and in Venditti's script makes up for it. Pascal Alixe's rendition of Jordan is a little unrecognizable at times, but otherwise he and the entire art team really nail a story about a man on the run and finding new aspects of himself. While the annual is far from required reading, it does serve to fill in some notable blanks. Read Full Review
While you may not get everything that you wanted to get out of this Annual, you will get a good look at who Hal Jordan is now that he's taken on this Renegade persona and how his outlook on the Universe has changed a bit. The art is a mixed bag between some of the most beautiful Green Lantern imagery that I've seen in a long time....... to what the hell were they thinking with this art...... it's very strange, but I think the good overshadows the bad and I'm sure you'll get over the parts that don't work as well. This isn't a must buy issue, but if you're a GL fan, you should pick this one up. Read Full Review
All-in-all, GREEN LANTERN ANNUAL #4 is decent. For those who want to know a bit more about Hal before the Corps disappeared, this is a solid read. It doesn't really add anything to the current arc, but there are some threads at the end of the issue that will most likely be picked up later. The biggest problem with the issue is the inconsistency in the art. It feels rushed and there's lots of tiny bumps in the road which are a huge bummer considering that Pascal Alixe's style is pretty fantastic. If you're really into Green Lantern, I'll mildly recommend this to you. Read Full Review
Green Lantern Annual #4 is not a book I'd recommend to someone who's not already reading the main series. More of a character driven piece than what readers have come to expect from annuals, this issue focuses the spotlight directly on the titular character as a benefit of Robert Venditti's script. The annual is unfortunately dragged down by inconsistent artwork and uncomplimentary art styles. Three out of five lanterns. Read Full Review
The problems I had with this issue namely had to due with the fact that this was an annual, which I'm sure isn't up to Robert Venditti when DC comics needs an annual. The contents of the story did not meet my expectations for an annual, again due to retreading plot points and no real advancements between Hal and his crew. Some interesting ideas of legends vs. truth but not well executed. The art didn't help this issues story. Read Full Review
Art wasn't great--didn't even look like Hal. Story was forgettable.
