Godhead, act 3, part 6: The massive finale is here! On one side stand the New Gods, on the verge of conquering our universe in order to save it! On the other stand the combined might of the various Lantern Corps or whats left of them. And in the wings wait the unlikeliest of allies: Hal Jordan and Black Hand. Changes are coming to the heroes of interstellar space, and it all starts here, in the climactic final battle of mortals vs. gods!
Green Lantern Annual #3 provides a fantastic conclusion to GodHead, closing the book on one saga while laying the foundation for stories that will unfold for months to come. Thanks to the Lanterns Earth has found a new ally in the New Gods and hopefully there will be enough time for them to rebound from these events to play a role in the coming Darkseid War. There are great moments for a number of characters thanks to Robert Venditti's wonderful script and the best work that Billy Tan has turned in so far on this run. Read Full Review
This was an unbelievable issue and finale to GODHEAD and while I'm not thrilled about how everything went down, the good more than outweighs the bad. Just so many new ideas and concepts thrown at us coupled with amazing art that this is one of those jaw dropping issues that you just need to have. It's odd to actually have GODHEAD finished but it was a satisfying ride and I'm happy that I was on it and I'm sure anyone else reading out there will feel the same. I just wish that Highfather's reasons for ending the fight were a little more climactic....... But up until that point the book is solid gold, go check it out. Read Full Review
If you've read the advanced solicitations for March, then you'll have noticed that several of the Green Lantern titles have been canceled (Corps, New Guardians, Red Lanterns) with only Green Lantern and Sinestro remaining. Although their cancellations are imminent, with this event they're going out with a bang. There are plenty of great characters within these titles including John Stewart, Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner that won't carry their own series, so hopefully DC has a plan to shine the light on them elsewhere in 2015. Events from the big two have been pretty dang mediocre, and while event fatigue has taken its toll on all comic book readers, Godhead is one of the few events in recent memory actually worthy of a read from start to finish. Venditti and crew truly knew what they were doing here and while there were some bumps along the road, overall, this was a fantastic event and a finale worthy of the story. Sure, the Highfather turn seemed to be handled a tad hastily, but all-in-all, this was a wonderful story both in concept and execution. Read Full Review
It's a solid finale that concerns itself more with the characters and conflicts at hand rather than trying to set up future storylines. If only more event comics were like that. Read Full Review
An unconvincing conclusionputs a cloud over the entire Godhead saga, but the art isdecent on this finale. Only for Lantern fans. Read Full Review
Green Lantern Annual #3 did have the epic finale feel to it and for the most part was a satisfactory conclusion to Godhead, yes it did leave readers with asking questions (what event doesn't) but Tan's art collapse does knock the annual down a score. Read Full Review
"Green Lantern Annual" #3 trips just before crossing the finish line, and rather than get up, dust itself off and finish the course, it languishes for a moment, then just decides to leave. There are plenty of ideas that are given range to roam, but the end of "Godhead" doesn't deliver the payout the epic promised at the start. Read Full Review
my God! my God! my God! THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE READ IN MY LIFE! I LOVE LANTERNS VERY MUCH
Great ending. Epic. Saint Walker back. Great large battle panels. This is what an event should be.
Many comic events start out very promising and then peter out on a weak note. Godhead has been the opposite, it started out mundane and formulaic and ends very fun and exciting. The artwork is pretty epic, especially in the first few pages, some pages in the middle look rushed which is understandable, but it is a great effort for the most part. The revelations with Highfather are a little cheesy and forced, but there is enough action and other genuine character development present to let that slide. Godhead was a long and mostly flat roller coaster ride, but at least there was a big spiraling thrill at the end.
