The startling conclusion of HEL ON EARTH!
Now, I am not even that crazy about Superboy but it was great to see DeFalco show readers just exactly what the character is capable of in this issue. I enjoyed most of the comic (except for the fact that Superboy made H'el look a bit weak in one scene), and I admit this issue really took me by surprise. Overall, the dialogue is great, the pacing is solid and the story is propped up by some really pretty art. There are some very interesting clues in this issue as to the nature of the story, the future of the universe and the importance of Superboy's role in the DCU. This was by far one of the better issues in this series and it made Superboy's character look really, really good. Read Full Review
I don't know if I'm gonna stick around and keep buying Superboy once "H'el on Earth" completes, but I might. They've gotten me intrigued enough about the character, and the possibility of expanding the new Superman mythos through him just enough to make it appealing. If I'm back here next month with a review of Superboy #18, then DeFalco and Silva did their job! Read Full Review
Damn has this week been mediocre thus far! Much like most of the other comics I've read this week, I can sum this issue up in a word. That word? Meh. Once again, this wasn't a bad comic book. Tom DeFalco knows how to write a good comic book(unlike a certain writer who used to do SB...). This WAS an okay comic. It just wasn't really for me. I'm not interested in the H'El on Earth storyline, and I'm not following it at all. I haven't read an issue of Superman or Supergirl, I haven't spoken to anybody about what's been going down in those books, nor have I read any reviews on those books. I'm just not interested. I do think fans of Supes and this storyline would enjoy this comic. For me though, it was just meh. Read Full Review
The actual events of this book are hit or miss. There's too much of characters standing around talking about what they're going to do, then doing it, and then exiting. It makes for poor pacing. But despite that, for the first time in a while Superboy's actions speak for his character and give you a reason to care about him. His "fight" with Supergirl actually had a point aside from watching the two title characters interact. It's with this auspicious development that I hesitantly look forward to seeing what happens in the penultimate chapter of H'El on Earth in Supergirl #17. Read Full Review
Again, congratulations to Tom DeFalco, Scott Lobdell, and Eddie Berganza. You have made Supergirl pathetic and unlikeable. The writing has been on the wall since the beginning of this arc. And to Superboy fans, I hope you like the new direction he is taking here. Read Full Review
