Weekly Comic Book Review - J. Montes Oct 25, 2008

This is the best comic book released this week. This issue also marks the return of the “Triangle System” making the story easy to follow across all the Superman titles. The bad part is I'm going to have to buy all these titles just to be kept in the loop! But it's all worth it for a more superior story, not to mention, tight continuity. It's a great time to be a Superman fan and the perfect time for new readers to jump aboard. Read Full Review

The Weekly Crisis - Kirk Warren Oct 22, 2008

While I don't think the entire issue warrants a Must Read, I'm giving it one on the strength of the Johns / Frank part of the book and Superman's dealing with his grief over his father's death. The problems with the rest of the book stem from the rather slow opening for a major event and how it seems to have throttled down from the Action Comics Brainiac story that preceeded it. Comic Book Bin - Nathan Madison Oct 24, 2008

Superman: New Krypton Special is a fantastic work, in and of itself, and is also a perfect point from which to launch a tome in the Superman mythos that has been long hyped and anticipated; one that which, if the past and present work of the creative team is any indication, will not disappoint any long-time, or new, followers of the Man of Steel's adventures. Comics Bulletin - Alex Rodriguez Oct 25, 2008

All-in-all, this is one story arc that I am excited to see through to the end. Get your hands on this issue before theyre all gone. Believe me, you wont regret it. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Rokk Krinn Oct 27, 2008

Superman New Krypton Special #1 does its job of advertising the Superman franchise and its two titles and trying to entice new readers to the two titles. The writers made this issue very new reader friendly. If you have not given either Action Comics or Superman a try then Superman New Krypton Special #1 is the perfect jumping on point. Even if you are like me and have never been much of a Superman fan, I would still recommend giving this title a try. Johns and Robinson have in store for the reader what appears to be a classic super hero tale that should have mass appeal. Read Full Review

Chuck's Comic Of The Day - Chuck Oct 28, 2008

I'm anxious to see where the story is going, and I'm confident that Geoff Johns, James Robinson and Sterling Gates have some great stories in store - but I can't help but hope that when the story is done, the Superman family won't be quite so crowded. Read Full Review

    IGN - Jesse Schedeen Oct 20, 2008

All told, I think New Krypton Special is a decent way to kick off a crossover. I'm certainly intrigued to see where Johns and his crew are headed in the next three months. But despite all DC's promises, this is no Sinestro Corps War. At least, not yet. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Oct 22, 2008

"Superman: New Krypton" brings the two worlds together in a way that promises boundless potential and I would like to think the characters on the page and the creators responsible for those characters are ready to deliver. I strongly urge any borderline Superman reader to put back one of those summer event books and grab a copy of this book. Even though it may not seem action-packed, this title accomplishes a lot and it offers a great starting point for the next year of Super reading. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Stephen Schleicher Oct 31, 2008

I think Superman: New Krypton #1 is a good issue to kick off a series, but for some reason felt like I ate too much, or not enough. I'm just not completely satisfied. I don't know if it is the story, the art, or a combo of the two. I really want to say, Hot Damn! but ultimately fall back to It's Okay. I'm giving Superman: New Krypton #1 3 out of 5 Stars.
